The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

The hotel provides a practical base with friendly, helpful service and walkable access to area dining. Rooms are equipped for productivity with laptop workspaces and microwaves, but accommodations along the roadside deal with loud emergency sirens and street traffic. Dingy hallways, stale odors in older rooms, and noticeably flat pillows further detract from the overall comfort. 611105

What travelers noticed

  • The location earns wide approval for being within walking distance of nearby restaurants and city destinations. 14
  • Rooms facing the E Indian School roadside suffer from persistent traffic and emergency vehicle sirens all night. drawn from the full read
  • Multiple travelers note that the beds have very thin, mushy pillows that lack support. drawn from the full read

The catch

  • Some guests find the breakfast delicious and the on-site dining good, while others call the food mediocre, overpriced, and not worth the buffet charge. drawn from the full read
  • Reviewers are divided on room upkeep, with several guests reporting clean, well-equipped spaces while others describe dingy hallways and peeling wallpaper. drawn from the full read

Who it's for

  • Walkable city trips
  • Business travelers needing a workspace and microwave
  • Short stays near dining

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers facing the main road
  • Guests who need firm, supportive pillows
  • Late-evening diners expecting open on-site dining

  • One of my frequent stops while being a road warrior was a very well-run Hilton Garden Inn located at the convention center in Florence, SC. They always exceeded my expectations for service and hospitality, even during the COVID mess, and the property features several lovely outdoor spaces to relax. 5
  • I second the Hilton. Very nice updated rooms. 11

  • With a solid 8.1 value score, this three-star hotel offers a great balance of service and facilities. It is a reliable choice for those seeking comfort without the premium price tag of luxury resorts. 6
  • It's usually more expensive than, say, a Hampton, but it doesn't offer me anything of significance to justify the price. There's one that I like in Denver, but that's purely because it's in easy walking distance of Union Station. 5

  • We chose the Downtown Hilton Garden Inn because of its location and great reviews. There are many nice restaurants nearby and the Phoenix light rail is just a few blocks away. 14
  • and then over here is where the breakfast places that we love and then there's a pizza place right there as well and then Target and all of that is like right down the road so yeah and then the freeway is kind of like right up there so it's very conveniently located On camera135:46

  • Ok if the rooms were recently updated when you stayed why are they in such disrepair now? Currently.in the hilton with the peeling wall paper, stench that smells like a teenage boy locker room 11
  • the room itself had issues because every day at five o'clock my room started to smell like the restaurant downstairs so that I did not enjoy and then it would leave like a lingering grease smell in the room itself so that again I did not appreciate 13

  • Never received a "your room is ready" notification, never received a digital key, had to ask for my water bottles, and I received a text asking, "How is your stay going?" at 10:15 p.m. when I was already in bed trying to fall asleep. Sometimes it just feels like they're not even trying. 5
