How each loyalty program prices a room

Most guides tell you what a program says it offers. These are working notes on how the pricing actually behaves — which programs still publish a chart, which invent a number for your dates, and what we measured a point to be worth. Where our own data runs out, the table says so.

13 programs across 650 hotels · 315 priced so far · 3 point values measured by us rather than taken from published estimates.

Marriott Bonvoy

Published charts were abolished in March 2022. A night costs whatever the property is asking that day, so there is no category to look up and no price that holds.

Only a dated availability query answers it, property by property. There is no shortcut.

In the wayRequests must match a safelisted query exactly, character for character, so the query cannot be trimmed or edited.

Hilton Honors

Never had a published chart. Points are earned quickly and are worth correspondingly less - on our own sampling, roughly a third of a Marriott point.

Sampled property by property from Hilton’s own storefront. No chart exists to shortcut it.

In the wayhilton.com is behind Akamai. Warming up on the homepage first is what makes a session work.

Worth knowingHilton Grand Vacations timeshare properties priced worst of everything we measured, at about 0.20 cents a point.

World of Hyatt

The only major program we carry that still publishes an award chart. Categories 1 to 8, revised annually, running from about 5,000 points a night at category 1 to 40,000 at category 8.

The category sits on every property page, so a points price is a lookup against the published chart rather than a live query for your dates.

In the wayhyatt.com is behind Kasada. A browser profile stops working after 10 to 40 page loads and then serves empty pages with a success status, which looks exactly like a hotel having no category.

Worth knowingCategory tracks cash price closely - category 2 sits in our cheapest price band, category 8 in our dearest - so genuine sweet spots are rarer than a chart implies.

ALL Accor

Not an award chart at all: 1,000 points takes exactly 20 euros off the bill, and points can cover part of a stay with the rest paid in cash.

No award data is needed. The points cost of a night is arithmetic on its cash price, and Accor publishes per property whether it accepts points.

Worth knowingBecause the rate is flat, no Accor redemption is better value than another. Their soft brands do not all take points, so a hotel can carry Accor branding and still refuse them.

66 hotels in ALL Accor

IHG One Rewards

Dynamic, with no published chart. The largest program in our corpus for which we hold no award pricing at all.

Not yet sourced. What we hold is a property catalogue, which carries no prices of any kind.

62 hotels in IHG One Rewards

GHA DISCOVERY

An alliance rather than a chain, and its currency behaves more like a discount earned back against future stays than an award.

Not yet sourced. Whether it belongs on this page as a points program is still an open question.

Wyndham Rewards

A flat redemption tier: a large part of the portfolio goes for the same number of points a night whatever the room costs in cash.

Membership of the tier is the whole answer, so no per-night sampling is needed. Not yet ingested.

Worth knowingThis is the one structure in hotel loyalty that can produce a true sweet spot, because the points price does not follow the cash price.

Shangri-La Circle

A single-chain program with no published chart.

Not yet sourced.

13 hotels in Shangri-La Circle

Caesars Rewards

A casino program. Its currency is earned on gaming rather than on stays, and rooms are issued against play rather than priced in points.

Deliberately not valued. A cents-per-point figure here would not be comparable with a hotel currency, so we publish none.

11 hotels in Caesars Rewards

Radisson Rewards

No published chart, and among the weaker currencies by conventional valuation.

Not yet sourced.

7 hotels in Radisson Rewards

Best Western Rewards

No published chart.

Taj InnerCircle

A single-chain program, mostly relevant across our India inventory.

Not yet sourced.

3 hotels in Taj InnerCircle

Venetian Rewards

A casino program, earned on gaming rather than on stays.

Deliberately not valued, for the same reason as Caesars Rewards.

2 hotels in Venetian Rewards

Point values are what a point buys in cash on a standard room night. Three are measured from our own sampling; the rest are the published consensus and are labelled as such. A program is only listed once we carry hotels in it.
