The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Grand Mercure Beijing Central provides a practical base well situated near major attractions and local dining. Guests appreciate the attentive front desk staff, comfortable beds, and generous breakfast options. However, rooms show signs of wear, bathrooms have limited vanity space, and thin walls allow music and noise from neighboring rooms to filter through. 1519112

  • For your money, my opinion is you can't beat Nuo Hotel. 8
  • Just realize that if you are in the CBD or Sanlitun, you'll still have in city travel to look forward to unless you're just planning on hanging around Taikooli or something. You said you wanted a great pool and awesome food. This is the best I've found, and a great price. 8

  • Came in the thread to say Nuo. It's such an amazing deal, especially when they have the cheap upgrade that gets you into the room with the cocktail hour/tea hour. 8
  • The food is great. The rooms are large and really unique and nice. There are other hotels in Beijing that are twice that price and not half as good. 8

  • Had a pleasant stay for 6 nights. This is a 4-star hotel in a quiet, safe and strategic district with 5-star service. 6
  • Grand Mercure puts you south of the Confucius Temple. I really enjoyed the area surrounding the temple which is definitely worth the trip and also an empty stomach for all the great restaurants nearby. But at the same time there might be better places to make as your base and instead spend a nice afternoon in the area. 12
  • The ideal location would be the Waldorf Astoria (I stayed at the Renaissance). 12
  • The hotel is nicely located to several major attractions so good for both business and leisure travelers. 6

  • Location & Facilities were top notch. A very pleasant stay overall with very comfortable room and great location to visit nearby places and malls. 1
  • The Holiday Inn is way too far from the subway so is an immediate no. 12
  • In Beijing we have stayed twice at the Fairmont and it was good but when we went with my parents we stayed at the GM Central and had a real good stay and the rooms had recently been renovated. The location of the GM was superb too. 5
  • Vue Hotel is also a cool area. But at the same time even though it might be good for a night out, as a base for touristy things not so much. It is also far from the subway. 12
  • Location wise, very strategic in the city center, walking distance to Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, near 2 different MRT stations so you can practically go everywhere in the city easily. 6

  • Holiday Inn is definitely way too far from the subway. I would strongly reconsider. 12
