The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

This extended-stay hotel on the west end of town offers clean, spacious suites with kitchenettes and trails right out the back. Guests enjoy the complimentary daily breakfast, outdoor firepit areas, and pool before and after hikes. However, noise can be an issue due to connecting room walls and heavy doors that tend to slam loudly. 467

What travelers noticed

  • Spacious suites are clean and equipped with kitchenettes, large bathrooms, and comfortable beds. drawn from the full read
  • The complimentary breakfast receives consistent praise for offering options that rotate daily before morning hikes. drawn from the full read
  • Common outdoor spaces stand out, featuring a pool, firepit areas, and hiking trails accessible right behind the property. 6
  • Many rooms and shared grounds provide impressive views overlooking the red rock canyon. 42

The catch

  • While some travelers describe the property as extremely quiet, others report noise transfer through connecting rooms and heavy doors that slam loudly. 4

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers sensitive to loud slamming doors
  • Anyone frustrated by slow front desk check-in lines

  • We had a standard suite, which was basically a large one bedroom flat, best bath we've had in the states for years (actually a bath, not a shower/puddle combo), lovely, and includes washer/dryer in apartment if you're road tripping. 5
  • I do recall having some issue with the bathroom, but it was quickly resolved. 6

  • I've had nothing but great experiences with staff and the property which is gorgeous. 6

  • I stayed here in March https://www.thestarmotel.com/ was the only property that wasn't full 3 months in advance and under $500. (The HIX was pricing well over $500). Its location is excellent, parking spot for each room at the front, clean, but expect traffic noise. 5
  • I've had a good experience at Sedona Uptown Suites. Clean rooms with a kitchen at a fair price. 7

  • The Red Agave had nice accommodations in 2014. Slim Shady Tr was just out the back door. Full panoramic view of Bell Rock. To die for views. Extremely quiet. 7

  • Stayed at the Courtyard. Nice. Simple. Don't think you'll get much for status. But it's clean and almost all the rooms have views. 6
  • Staff throughout is generally great, but Front Desk can sometimes be slow - the check-in process for such a straight-forward hotel seems to take so long, and they make you do a full formal check-in even with mobile key/mobile check-in 3
  • Courtyard was nice, newer side which is always good, a bit out of town but plenty around. 6
  • Stayed at the Courtyard. Nice. Simple. Don't think you'll get much for status. But it's clean and almost all the rooms have views. Stay on the top floor if possible. Everywhere is easy to get to even though that's on the western edge of town. 6
  • The owner, whose name escapes me now was a really friendly funny guy who made incredible breakfasts every day and you can basically see the trails from the back patio/ride out the front door and across the road to trail heads. 7
  • The White House Inn was is not chic chic but clean and comfortable. And the owner is nice. 7
  • I've had nothing but great experiences with staff and the property which is gorgeous. 6

  • I've had a good experience at Sedona Uptown Suites. Clean rooms with a kitchen at a fair price. 7
  • We stayed at the Matterhorn Inn in April this year - it was pleasant enough with pool / hot tub but quite expensive... all accommodation there was expensive at the time though tbh (and still is I think). 5
  • If I'm alone, I'm at the Super 8 in Cottonwood. It's clean, cheap and has a pool and hot tub. 7
  • I've had a good experience at Sedona Uptown Suites. Clean rooms with a kitchen at a fair price. I'm bringing the RV to the festival in March but if I weren't I'd book this place. I think Munds Wagon (hangover) and Broken Arrow are close, Soldiers Pass is farther but doable. But this isn't a ride in/ride out location. 7
  • The hotel is a Category 4 property and costs 15,000 points/night. That was a bargain compared to the cash price of this hotel and other places in the area. 4

  • Location away from the hustle of Sedona proper is a benefit in my opinion - and there are a number of great restaurants in Oak Creek (a few literally in the same parking lot as the Element - Tortas de Fuego, Butterfly Burger, Pisa Lisa) 3
  • The location to tour Sedona is fantastic, as you can walk from the hotel to the downtown area in less than 5 minutes. 4
  • I wish all the hotels had an 'Availability Calendar' like this so you could just check the entire stay instead of messing around with individual calendar days...good website feature. We stayed at the Bell Rock Inn last time--inexpensive, comfy, quiet, super close to Bike and Bean and trails. 7

  • The views from almost everywhere (except our window) were breathtaking. 4
  • Morning views were really cool if you get a balcony on the top floor looking southeast. 6
  • The room was nice and well-appointed but had an unusual layout. 4
  • Room was clean and great to have the extra space over a typical hotel room. 6
  • It was a 1 bedroom suite overlooking the red rock canyon. The view was the best for our 17 day road trip. 4
Noise4 mentions
  • The next issue was noise. For the first night of our stay, the connecting room was empty but then some guests checked in on our second night. The doors in the building tended to SLAM loudly each time. 4
  • The Residence Inn on the west end of town was clean, comfortable, and quiet when we were there last. 7
