The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Paradisus Cancun is a sprawling all-inclusive resort featuring 773 redesigned rooms, four lagoon-inspired pools, and nine distinct restaurants. The property delivers strong dining options like Taqueria Blue Agave and attentive butler service around the pools. However, loud party noise is a frequent problem, with thumping bass from nearby party scenes and discotheques keeping lower-level and oceanfront rooms awake between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Guests also frequently report being approached for excursion sales pitches across the grounds, even when picking up pool towels. 12397

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • Guests agree that the resort provides a convenient base, sitting a quick 20-minute drive from the Cancun airport. 1
  • The 773 redesigned guest rooms receive praise for their contemporary decor featuring warm woods, woven macramé wall art, and balconies overlooking ocean or tropical garden views. 6117
  • Dining across the nine restaurants is widely praised, especially the freshly pressed corn tortillas at Taqueria Blue Agave and the 10-course tasting menu at Tempo. 67

The catch

  • While some guests report that bathrooms are spacious with great showers, others find them compact and note that most lack separate bathtubs and showers. 71
  • Reviewers praise attentive poolside waiters and dedicated butler service, but others note that high guest volumes lead to long lines at the breakfast buffet and food trucks. 39
  • Some visitors appreciate the all-inclusive value, while others feel caught off guard by extra charges on select restaurant entrees, simulator games in the Play District, and limits on free room service. 3

Who it's for

  • Travelers wanting quick airport transfers
  • Food-focused all-inclusive vacationers
  • Guests who enjoy lively pool atmospheres

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers sensitive to late-night music and thumping bass
  • Anyone annoyed by resort excursion sales pitches
  • Guests expecting all menu items and activities to be included without extra fees

  • Okay, in addition to the amazing service...the food at Paradisus Cancun was close to the best I've ever had at an all inclusive resort. 1

  • While the proximity to the airport, resort amenities and beach were major pros, the lack of sleep we experienced from being so close to the party center was a bit too much for me to want to return. 9
  • Paradisus Cancun is a quick 20 minute drive from the Cancun airport, which was so nice! 1

Noise

81
read from 4 sources · Solid coverage
  • While noise from the (twice-weekly) beach party and live music entertainment can sometimes be heard in lower-level rooms, sound insulation is generally good (though light sleepers might want to avoid the central pyramids closest to the beach club). 7
  • "We had an ocean front room and you would hear music and people partying in the pool until 11pm I believe." 10

Room

85
read from 1 source · Deep coverage
  • Thanks to the resort's stepped-pyramid design, every furnished balcony enjoys an unobstructed view of either the Caribbean Sea or Nichupté Lagoon, regardless of category, allowing outdoor living to feel like an extension of the room itself. 6
  • The furnishings throughout are contemporary with tropical touches, and the attention to detail in the room design really shows that this isn't just another cookie cutter resort. 111:40

Service

  • It was amazing. Our service at Paradisus was a 10 on a 10 y'all. Our butler made dinner reservations for us every night, we were literally waited on hand and foot by the pool (like we never had to wait for a drink), and everyone who worked at the resort was always SO nice. 1
  • "We loved having a personal concierge to take care of dinner reservations, reserve pool cabanas, getting us change for larger bills, little surprises along the way (bottle of champagne/chocolate covered strawberries waiting in our room one night, a special eagles themed desert sent cause or concierge saw us wearing eagles gear (right after we won the NFC championship) and anything else we needed." 10

  • Prices are competitive for this level of luxury, but couples may want to splurge for the adults-only Royal Service at Paradisus Cancun, or consider the adults-only, and sometimes slightly pricier, Live Aqua Cancun. 7

  • With bars surrounding the pools and attentive servers circulating throughout the beach and pool decks, saying "just one more" becomes remarkably easy. 6
  • Excursion sales guys yes every time we would walk from the pool to the hotel someone would approach us from the resort team and try to sell us an Excursion yes this happens quite a bit unfortunately it was very repetitive the same salesperson asked me three different times on one day it was annoying and not relaxing On camera36:14
  • The staff members who work with children are trained and enthusiastic, and they genuinely seem to enjoy what they're doing. On camera117:34
  • The staff at the Paradisus Cancun was friendly, kind and attentive. Unfortunately, there were too many hotel guests for the staff to properly support and still provide a quality experience. 9

  • The Aromatherapy, soothing dim lighting, and calming décor set the tone for relaxation, in fact the whole resort had this sweet aroma to it especially the check-in area. 12

  • The terrace opposite Pyramid Five is reserved for the exclusive use of Royal Service plan residents and includes plenty of comfy daybeds from where guests can order drinks and meals -- though service can be a little slow. 7
  • Housekeeping always did a great job keeping our rooms clean and we loved the chocolate they brought every night for turn-down service! 1
  • It has Tennis courts, a nine-hole par 3 golf course, Kids Club, YHI Spa, four lagoon-inspired pools and a Family Concierge that helps with tours and activities. They had nine restaurants and seven bars focused on the highest quality food and with great ambiance and service. 12
  • Thankfully, complimentary beach loungers, pool chairs, and attentive drink service remain plentiful elsewhere on the property. 6

  • They have tons of different types of tacos and all were amazing. We ate breakfast at the main buffet everyday and it never disappointed. 1

  • The main buffet restaurant is your go-to spot for international cuisine, serving up everything from breakfast at 6:30 in the morning until 11 at night. The variety here is honestly impressive. On camera112:03

  • The food truck and breakfast buffet lines were often quite long. Luckily, there were plenty of other food options to consider. 9
  • The Tacos and tequila at the Blue Agave Restaurant was always perfect. 12
  • But where this place really shines is in their specialty restaurants. These are reservation-based spots that offer more intimate dining experiences with focused cuisines. We're talking authentic Mexican fair that'll knock your socks off, Italian dishes that transport you straight to Tuscanyany, and Asian options that hit all the right flavor notes. On camera112:20
  • Dare I say, I even found myself eating at the buffet. Impeccably maintained and constantly replenished, it offered enough Mexican, Asian, Italian, and American dishes that it quietly worked its way into my regular rotation. 6
  • The 24-hour room service is a nice touch, too, especially when you're jet-lagged or just don't feel like getting dressed for dinner. On camera113:02
  • Breakfast buffet can get crowded 7
  • Due to the sheer number of guests, several restaurant spaces are opened up for the expansive buffet breakfast service, though even then it can feel crowded. 7
  • Food receives mixed reviews 7
  • Even for a resort of this size, there's an impressive range of Paradisus Cancun restaurants. 7

  • When we got tired of tacos (which we rarely did) we went to Vento - the Mediterranean that served Pizzas and fresh pasta. We were not impressed with Bana the Pan-Asian, we loved the Zen terrace but the sushi was nothing to write home about. 12
  • Decor is tasteful, if a bit outdated, done in mostly neutral tones, and with traditionally styled furnishings. 7

  • The well-equipped rooms are spacious and have furnished balconies with sea or lagoon views, free minibars, and free Wi-Fi, but decor is a bit outdated. 7
  • Most accommodations fall into either Junior Suite or Suite categories, although calling my 474-square-foot Junior Suite a suite felt a touch generous. 6
