The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Attached to La Isla shopping center in the Hotel Zone, this property combines functional, quiet rooms with a rooftop infinity pool overlooking Nichupte Lagoon. Guests consistently praise the comfortable beds, spotless cleanliness, and convenient access to mall dining. However, front desk service can be uneven, with staff frequently needing to refer basic questions to supervisors. 415614

What travelers noticed

  • The spotless rooms feature comfortable canopy beds, sofa nooks by the windows, and walk-in showers with strong water pressure and locally produced toiletries. 816
  • The Wander Rooftop infinity pool earns praise for its vantage over Nichupte Lagoon, especially during evening sunsets. 4
  • Guests appreciate being roughly 23 minutes from the airport and having direct, walkable access to La Isla outdoor shopping mall. 147

The catch

  • The area is incredibly safe for walking around: easy to grab dinner, go shopping, or get your bearings before heading to a bigger resort. 14
  • I eventually ordered off the Hilton honors menu and got a veggie omelette. It was actually very good. Lots of mushrooms and cheese, and I also took side dishes from the buffet, that the head restaurant guy (Eduardo), said was fine for diamond members. Perfect breakfast. 15

  • The rooms at Canopy La Isla feel both modern and inviting with rich colors and natural wood. The swinging lounge and Nespresso machine were my favorite features. 4
  • The room was incredibly clean, cozy, and comfortable. Canopy by Hilton positions itself in the "lifestyle" tier of the Hilton portfolio, below the Conrad and Waldorf Astoria but notably more designed and intentional than a standard Hilton or Hampton Inn. 14

  • I'm not sure if room upgrades are a thing, but facing the lagoon and the mall is nice (see pics above). 15
  • The rooms at Canopy La Isla feel both modern and inviting with rich colors and natural wood. The swinging lounge and Nespresso machine were my favorite features. 4
  • The king-size bed is topped with a wooden canopy-a nod to the name and brand slogan of "we got you covered." A cute sofa nook by the windows in the bedroom is perfect for reading or working. 8
  • Each room is equipped with swing chairs. They're really neat. 15
  • The Premium Perks: Our upgrade included a Nespresso machine in the room, always a nice touch. Having a real coffee option in the morning rather than the drip machine situation that comes standard at most hotels is the kind of detail that makes a room feel elevated. 14
  • The room is nice and functional, the bed very comfy. I was aware that there's no balcony, but to my surprise there's no bathtub either. 10
  • My room offered a great view of the Laguna Nichupté as well as the La Isla Ferris Wheel. 16
  • However, the best thing about choosing or getting upgraded to the sunset rooms ( which are in higher floors in odd number rooms in the middle of the floor plan), like rooms _17, _19, _21, _23, where you can see parts of the shopping mall, the ferris wheel and also the pole where the platon flyers have their evening shows daily. All right outside your window. It's certainly a site to see. 15
  • this is a fairly new hotel so everything just look brand new and just really nice the decor was really nice On camera60:30
  • The layout felt spacious for the square footage because the design avoided the kind of bulky furniture that makes standard hotel rooms feel cramped. Everything had a purpose. 14
View3 mentions
  • The View: The Sunset View overlooks the lagoon and the giant Ferris wheel at La Isla Mall. At night when the wheel lights up, it looks genuinely beautiful. 14
  • The so-called Sunrise view has an aspect of the opposite hotel, and the sea view is quite poor. 10
  • At the hotel's Wander Rooftop, guests are treated to a view like none other. The infinity pool overlooks the Nichupte Lagoon with its famous sunsets, made especially unique by the hotel's proximity to Cancun's enormous Sky Wheel. 4
Location9 mentions
  • The location, cleanliness, and rooftop alone would make us book it again. 14
  • Being within a 5-minute walk of the La Isla Shopping Mall provided plenty of options for dining and late-night snacks. 16
  • The best thing about this hotel is the location since it's part of the La Isla Shopping Mall. You will always have a close place to eat and shop. 15
  • The location was not ideal, it's a pitty. 2
  • The location is fantastic for a quick stay. Only 23 minutes from the Cancun airport, right in the Hotel Zone, and directly next to the La Isla Mall. 14
  • Canopy by Hilton Cancun La Isla is located in the heart of Cancun's Hotel Zone, offering guests spectacular views of the lagoon, adjacent to white sand beaches. 13
  • The only downside is that it's located a bit further from the party scene than some of the other hotels in Cancun. 13
  • Conveniently located in the middle of Cancun's hotel zone near an outdoor shopping mall 7
  • One thing to note about this location is that it might be difficult to find nightlife within walking distance. 8
Food10 mentions
  • A can't-miss combo for a light, fresh dinner is meaty grilled shrimp with a huge platter of grilled peppers, onions, and zucchini. 8
  • The area is incredibly safe for walking around: easy to grab dinner, go shopping, or get your bearings before heading to a bigger resort. 14
  • Recent travelers enjoyed the rooftop pool and bar and remarked the food in the cafe was fresh and tasty. 5
  • onest take: the food was just okay. Not the worst hotel breakfast we have had, but far from the best. The variety was adequate rather than impressive, and nothing at the buffet made us want to go back for a second plate except the omelettes, which were made to order and genuinely good. 14
  • The spread isn't the best that I've seen, but the quality is top-notch, and they change the hot dishes every day. They've put a lot of thoughts into the breakfast and the menu is very nicely curated, thanks to it not being a massive resort overwhelmed with guests. 10
  • Downstairs, Azulinda Café & Bar is also open all day, starting with a breakfast buffet. Choose from a variety of freshly baked goods including flaky and addictive chocolate croissants, as well as fresh fruits and juices and American and Mexican dishes. 8
  • We enjoyed happy hour at the hotel's rooftop bar and breakfast at Azulinda Café in the lobby the next morning but also found it convenient to venture offsite and try local restaurants for dinner. 4
  • Guests can also enjoy the on-site restaurant, which serves delicious Mexican cuisine. 13
  • Even better than the breakfast offering, the dinner menu here is outstanding. We ordered tacos, grilled octopus and spider (beef) steak, and every dish is simply amazing. 10
Service14 mentions
  • The lime soup with roasted chicken, tomato, smoked pepper, and roasted onion is a zesty, tangy surprise, and staff did well to recommend the skirt steak tacos, which are sauteed with pepper and onion and topped with pico de gallo and pickled onions. 8
  • I always leave tips, but the only tips at this hotel went to the restaurant staff and the older bellhop gentleman. Everyone else was in need of some common sense training. 15
  • Still, some guests felt the hotel's housekeeping and customer service could be improved. 5
  • Airport transfer: 23 minutes from the airport makes this one of the more accessible Hotel Zone properties for late arrivals or early departures. We slept incredibly well here. The hotel is spotless, the staff is warm and friendly, and the beds are genuinely comfortable. 14
  • My major annoyance is how totally inconsiderate the housekeeping staff is. Starting about 8:45am they open and close doors to the rooms they are cleaning. They open them fully and then let them slam. 15
  • During the new weekly wine and cheese night in the lobby, staff sets out an impressive display of cheeses, toasted bread, olive oil, nuts, and dried fruit. 8
  • The front desk clerks are not very knowledgeable about anything unfortunately. No matter what I asked them they had to refer the question to a supervisor or the bellhops. They get a strong F if I was to grade them. 15
  • A bellhop will guide you to your room and explain the inner workings of the room and how to order off the QR menu, etc. Very helpful bellhops. 15
  • The bar menu is straightforward but covers the basics, and the bartenders were friendly and efficient. 14
  • Enjoy a favorite Hilton property with excellent staff and cleanliness 7
  • The property is beautiful and well-maintained, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff is attentive and helpful. 13
  • The front desk was clearly attentive to status members, and the upgrade felt genuinely thoughtful rather than just a minor category bump. 14
  • Restaurant staff is very knowledgeable and very professional. No issues whatsoever. 15
  • While the hotel had limited amenities due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the staff was extremely helpful. 16

  • The bathroom was well-designed with good lighting, which matters more than people admit when you are getting ready for a full day of travel or a dinner reservation. 14
  • My room had a standard bathroom with a walk-in shower. There was great water pressure and plenty of hot water. 16
