  • The only issue is that it's a little off the beaten path. You have to walk a ways to get into the Gaslamp, but it's not a big deal. 12
  • Have been there twice since your stay (2011 isn't really that recent) and can't agree with your review. Yes, it has gotten expensive...demand is very high. 10

  • Stayed at Bayfront a couple weeks ago. It's really nice but is definitely a bit isolated. 12
  • I didn't mind the ES and it's been a couple years since I was there...but I did NOT like the Hilton Marina, due to cleanliness, condition of the room and lousy staff attitude.....I will not return there..... 10
  • The Marriott was much much nicer, and staff were exceptionally nice. 12

  • I'm a Hilton loyalist, but they were busy and therefore rude at the Hilton. 12
  • The Embassy is decent. It's valet parking only which can take some time. It's rooms aren't as nice as Bayfront. 12
  • The Hyatt Pier 66 had some issues (for instance a broken glass OUTSIDE the door of the room upon check in and the housekeeper's cart was next to it....) 10

  • Reply Nov 21st, 2002 | 04:40 AM #7 bev Guest Posts: n/a My husband, son (then age 12) and I stayed there four years ago. We liked it very much. It was in a good location - across the street from a nice mall, P.F. Chang's restaurant next door and easy access to LaJolla. 6
  • (Of course, this was a few years ago). We've also stayed at the Embassy in downtown San Diego, which was a big disappointment. The rooms were old and stinky! 6
  • Curio - Carte Hotel Downtown 10 out of 10! sdg2844 • 2 taon ang nakalipas Thanks. Seems to have a nice gym, but not our style, and I'm not crazy about the location. 12
  • Don't forget about The Monsaraz (Tapestry Collection)! It's not downtown, but since you have a car, it's in a quieter part of town with easy access to Point Loma if you wish to check that out! 12

  • Two-Room Suites: It's a nice touch that all stays come with two rooms per suite, allowing everyone to spread out and have some space to themselves. 2

  • Both of our last 2 stays there in Fort Lauderdale, the room was dirty upon entering. The carpet was dirty (and sticky in the last room!!). 10
  • Since that time, we have stayed at the Hilton Marina (totally enjoyed our stay, room was spotless and the ships are right in your backdoor!). 10
  • Rooms are spacious with a separate sitting area, sofa, and desk. 15
  • Embassy Suites is a roomy, good-value pick for a UC San Diego or business trip, and the all-suite layout is genuinely handy for families. 2
  • The atrium is very leafy and pretty with a koi pond the kids loved. Our room was clean, comfortable, well kept. (Of course, this was a few years ago). 6
  • Best for shoppers, less so for anyone relying on consistent room maintenance. 8
  • Anyone that knows me, knows cleanliness is my number one priority. The furniture was worn badly. None of us felt the happy hour and breakfast were anything to write home about. 10
  • This San Diego, CA hotel features 340 spacious two-room suites that have just been 100% refurbished and they're fabulous! 3
  • Avis has a car rental desk in the hotel lobby. It's not a very scenic area and near the I-805 freeway intersection 2
Food10 mentions
  • RE: the food credit at Bayfront; there's a starbucks in the building that your credit applies at! it's good for a coffee and sandwich at least! 12
  • But the nightly reception is ES standard, as is the morning breakfast. I will agree the breakfast could be a bit smoother in it's presentation. 10
  • Breakfast has a large buffet with omelet options and lots of variety. 15
  • Another recommendation for Bayfront if you stay there, don't bother using the credit on food. I think it was over $20 for a bagel sandwich and coffee from the little shop. 12
  • Suites include private sitting rooms and breakfast is served daily. Best for families, less so for anyone needing quick service at breakfast. 15
  • None of us felt the happy hour and breakfast were anything to write home about. I remember the breakfast being especially bad (cold food, ran out of food?). 10
  • Guest reviews give good marks for the family-friendly amenities, breakfast, and pool 9
  • Complimentary Breakfast and Evening Reception: It's hard to beat a free, made-to-order breakfast and two drinks for adults in the lounge. 2
  • Bayfront is by far the nicest of the 3. It has a pedestrian bridge that will get you right by Petco Park, some restaurants, etc. It is a bit of a walk if you want to go to Seaport Village, but not unbearable. 12
  • I remember the breakfast being especially bad (cold food, ran out of food?). The staff as well never seemed too happy either. 10

  • The only issue is that it's a little off the beaten path. You have to walk a ways to get into the Gaslamp, but it's not a big deal. 12
  • The Embassy Suites charges this new "resort" charge or something that forces you to "buy" crap in their gift shop that will "offset" the charge. Dumb. 12
  • The price for ES has continued to be higher in the past couple of years. Our last two stays at ES were not good. Customer service was not good and when we arrived the last time at 8pm at night, we walked into a dirty room that hadn't been cleaned. 10
  • Have been there twice since your stay (2011 isn't really that recent) and can't agree with your review. Yes, it has gotten expensive...demand is very high. 10
