Read it your way

This downtown all-suite hotel provides roomy accommodations along with free cooked-to-order breakfast and an evening cocktail reception. Its position near the harbor places guests just two blocks from Seaport Village and waterfront walking paths. However, visitors frequently contend with long lines in the lobby and at breakfast, as well as added resort charges. 16254

  • The spacious suites with separate sink areas provide practical room for families traveling together. 318
  • The waterfront setting earns praise for being an easy walk to Seaport Village shops and harbor jogging paths. 1812

The catch

  • While some guests appreciate the quieter location along the water, others feel it is a bit of a trek to reach the Gaslamp Quarter nightlife. 119
  • Some reviewers consider the property a solid value compared to neighboring high-rises, but others dislike the mandatory resort charge offset by gift shop credits. 1

  • The only bad thing- expensive parking, but there is some parking available on the street. You get a full cooked breakfast included with your room and the location is an easy walk to bayfront activities/hoho bus, gaslamp/restaurants etc. 6
  • The Embassy Suites is significantly less impressive than the nearby Manchester Grand Hyatt or the Marriott Marquis & Marina, but it's also quieter and considerably less expensive. 2

  • I have stayed at the Homewood Suites and Residence Inn. RI has amazing views and a wonderful buffet breakfast. 20
  • Love Homewood Suites, so much room, kitchens to make food and breakfast included. Great central location. 20
  • Complimentary Breakfast and Evening Reception: It's hard to beat a free, made-to-order breakfast and two drinks for adults in the lounge. 4
  • Hotel guest can also enjoy an amazing FREE breakfast buffet. The buffet is complete with a custom omelette bar, fruit and so much more. 16
  • Embassy Suites are known for their amazing breakfast offerings and this property did not disappoint. Also awesome is their complimentary evening reception. Each guest can enjoy two free cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages along with hors d'oeuvres and snacks each night in the dining area. 16
  • Another recommendation for Bayfront if you stay there, don't bother using the credit on food. I think it was over $20 for a bagel sandwich and coffee from the little shop. 1
  • but one of my favorite features about these properties is the breakfast they offer free breakfast for families at embassy suites that includes an omelette bar where they make your own omelette everything else you could want though just a huge selection really really well done On camera183:22

  • The Embassy is decent. It's valet parking only which can take some time. It's rooms aren't as nice as Bayfront. 1
  • My choice would be the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. It's beautiful with really great service. Rooms have always been spotless. 1
  • Check-in lines can be long 2
  • The spacious lobby (refurbished in 2015) gets long check-in lines and sometimes feels understaffed, but white and light woods combined with oversize hanging globe-shaped light fixtures lend a stylish feel. 2
  • I'm a Hilton loyalist, but they were busy and therefore rude at the Hilton. 1
  • My choice would be the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. It's beautiful with really great service. 1
  • Other things worth mentioning include the business center with complimentary computers, the fitness center and heated indoor swimming pool area. We felt this location also had a super friendly staff. 16
  • Stayed at Bayfront a couple weeks ago. It's really nice but is definitely a bit isolated. 1
  • Many also cited the friendly and speedy reception staff as a plus, though some felt the lobby was a bit cold and could benefit from more comfortable seating. 5
  • I handed my keys to the nice valet and headed inside On camera100:04
  • Edited June 17, 201115 yr by jordanaire Its nice. Its nice. Fairly convinent to the port. I have stayed there several times, and we are planning a return next Feb. 6

  • This hotel has a great location in the heart of San Diego, with views of the city skyline and Mission Bay. 12
  • One of the best aspects of the Shell for visitors is that it's located within easy walking distance of numerous hotels in the Gaslamp Quarter. 7
  • It's such an easy city to visit and I love any excuse to enjoy that California sunshine! We recently enjoyed a hosted stay at the Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown Hotel and I have to say, it is in the perfect location to visit all of San Diego's hot spots! 16
  • In the Hilton family is the Embassy Suites about 5 blocks from the pier, in a great location. 9
  • Whether you're a parent of a prospective student or planning a trip to visit them, Embassy Suites La Jolla is a great place to stay because of its proximity to the school's campus. 4
  • Aside from the Westfield UTC shopping mall across the street, there are few attractions or landmarks within walking distance of Embassy Suites. 4
  • The Embassy Suites By Hilton San Diego Bay Downtown hotel offers beautiful location in a walkable, just 0.7 km from USS Midway Interactive Museum. 15
  • Don't forget about The Monsaraz (Tapestry Collection)! It's not downtown, but since you have a car, it's in a quieter part of town with easy access to Point Loma if you wish to check that out! 1
  • and last but not least the location of this embassy suites is amazing it is two blocks away walking distance from seaport village you can see the hotel right there quick walk over here to seaport village so many great places to eat and shop and dine On camera184:14
  • However, the drive to the La Jolla Shores takes about 15 minutes and it's a bit further to reach the Village of La Jolla, our downtown area. You also have easy access from here to two major freeways, the I-5 and I-805, which makes sightseeing around the rest of San Diego a breeze. 4
  • Set in the heart of downtown San Diego, this all-suite hotel is just minutes from the airport, Seaport Village and the historic Gaslamp Quarter. This convenient location is close to a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment options. 19
  • Plus, with its proximity to the seaside towns of La Jolla, guests are in an excellent location to explore the best of San Diego-from sunny beaches to hiking trails at Torrey Pines. 4
  • Curio - Carte Hotel Downtown 10 out of 10! sdg2844 • 2 taon ang nakalipas Thanks. Seems to have a nice gym, but not our style, and I'm not crazy about the location. 1
  • It's also a block away from Seaport Village's shopping by the harbor and is within walking distance of the Gaslamp Quarter's restaurant and bar scene, making it a good spot for tourists as well. 2
  • The TownePlace suites is more airport adjacent than Liberty Station adjacent. The good part is you can literally walk there from the airport! 20
  • I have stayed at the Homewood Suites and Residence Inn. RI has amazing views and a wonderful buffet breakfast. It is also walking distance to the wooden ships and the Midway. HS was good, but is very close to the airport and the noise is pretty noticeable. 20
  • The homewood is not near the ferry or downtown. It is over by the the airport. That being said, if you have a car it is convenient to everything. 1
  • Central Location: Embassy Suites La Jolla is in the heart of the University Town Center neighborhood, providing guests with close access to several attractions, restaurants, and things to do in the area. 4
  • after breakfast I headed over to the seport Village which is just a short walk from the hotel there are a bunch of cool shops On camera100:27
  • Residence inn downtown has the most walkability and is nice, like others have said here make sure you are prepared for the expense of parking. 20
  • Convenient location across from Seaport Village 3
  • The Marriott Pulse Vacation Club is in a meh location right next to City College and has homeless around it, but you'll have 5-second access to the 163 for getting around. 20

  • The Shell is not just a concert venue: Its flexible layout is ideal for a variety of events , from galas to private concerts and more. 7
  • I would say it depends on how much time you'll spend in the room- my fiancé was working the whole time on east coast hours so a pool and balcony were great to have. 1
  • but the kicker to this property and i showed you from the outside which room we were in is the view i highly recommend a balcony room if you can because it makes your stay amazing you're looking out over the san diego bay area here in seaport village On camera182:02
  • Embassy Suites is a roomy, good-value pick for a UC San Diego or business trip, and the all-suite layout is genuinely handy for families. 4
  • The all-suite setup makes it especially attractive to families. 12
  • Request a room away from noisy AC units if you are a light sleeper 3
  • Avis has a car rental desk in the hotel lobby. It's not a very scenic area and near the I-805 freeway intersection 4
  • If you can, I highly request getting a room with a balcony. The views are amazing and hotel guests can enjoy looking out over the downtown and bay area. 16
  • Room-wise, Embassy Suites wins, hands-down. 6
  • If it's a family trip I highly recommend Paradise Point. The property is huge with lots of other things to do. And the hotel rooms are in small buildings through the property with parking directly in front of your room. It's right on the bay and easy access to all the places you're listing, especially Sea World as it is just down the road. 20
  • It's worth noting that none of the rooms have a balcony, though some of the premium and executive suites on the higher floors have better views. To see more scenery in La Jolla, it's probably better to look at hotels with a balcony or terrace. 4
  • this room was so big everything was so clean and I love all the natural light from the bay On camera100:13
  • The master bedroom has premium bedding and a comfy pillowtop bed. 16
  • Large suite-style rooms; many have great views of the bay 2
  • look at this space it's just laid out so well i love the apartment style such a deep space and so much room for everybody On camera181:54
  • Two-Room Suites: It's a nice touch that all stays come with two rooms per suite, allowing everyone to spread out and have some space to themselves. 4

  • The only issue is that it's a little off the beaten path. You have to walk a ways to get into the Gaslamp, but it's not a big deal. It's also directly along the water and ideal for jogging, etc. 1

  • The only bad thing- expensive parking, but there is some parking available on the street. You get a full cooked breakfast included with your room and the location is an easy walk to bayfront activities/hoho bus, gaslamp/restaurants etc. 6
  • The Embassy Suites charges this new "resort" charge or something that forces you to "buy" crap in their gift shop that will "offset" the charge. Dumb. 1
  • Fees for in-room Wi-Fi access and valet parking apply, but all room rates include the brand's complimentary evening receptions and breakfasts. Prior guests enjoyed both of the hotel's free services but suggested arriving early for weekend breakfasts to avoid waiting in long lines. 5
