The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Set right on bustling Westmoreland Street near Trinity College, this hotel pairs Art Deco interiors with quiet, well-soundproofed rooms. Guests praise the attentive staff, impressive breakfast spread at Morelands Breakfast Room, and bathrooms equipped with large tubs and separate showers. However, steep price increases lead some reviewers to question the overall value for money, and outward-facing views can be underwhelming. 10221117

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • Morning dining at Morelands Breakfast Room offers an extensive pastry selection, fruit station, and hot bar. 176
  • Staff deliver quick, friendly, and efficient service with spotless rooms. 101918

The catch

  • On their website, they've listed themselves as the most centrally located five-star hotel in Dublin city, and stepping out onto the balcony to glimpse the Spire on one side, Trinity on the other, and Temple Bar just a stone's throw away, it's hard to imagine getting any closer to the city's beating heart. 11
  • Buswells is a nice, centrally located, reasonably priced (for Dublin) small hotel with breakfast included. 19

  • The view outside our room was that of Trinity College which is absolutely amazing. 230:23
  • Appearing entirely unphased on the surface as we internally fizzed with excitement, we took it all in: an opulent room complete with a spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine library area above (where there's another TV, fireplace and a tea and coffee dock), plush robes, welcome chocolates, crisp sheets stretched across the biggest king-sized bed imaginable. 11

  • The single beds in this hotel are super-sized singles, FYI. Almost a full size bed and extra-long. Not quite big enough for 2 people but a very nice size for one considering most european hotels only offer tiny twin beds. 10

  • In general, I like this hotel, it has a great location, the Mint Bar is novel, however it has increased in price hugely since it opened and I'm not convinced whether it is truly value for money. 10
  • Very reasonable price, across from Christ Church Cathedral and easy walking distance to Temple Bar, Trinity College, Gresham Street, Guinness, etc. Our tour stayed at the Trinity City hotel - near all the attractions, nice room and nice size w a/c on those warm nights. 22

  • As anyone who has sauntered down it will know, Westmoreland Street is loud, and at times more than a little chaotic, which is a testament to the hotel's soundproofing. 11
  • The rooms are a decent size and well appointed. Although we looked over the city street in front of the hotel, there was no street noise in our fourth-floor room. 19
  • To be honest, the outside view wasn't anything amazing. We were on a higher floor so it was pleasant enough, but since it's a busy street below, I could see it being potentially noisy on lower floors. 10

  • Renowned for impeccable service, The College Green Hotel's staff bring dream weddings to life with professionalism and a personal touch. 18
  • BTW, the hotel is lovely and the staff very helpful. We stayed there two nights last month and loved both the location of the hotel (central to everything) and the amenities there. 10
  • BTW, the hotel is lovely and the staff very helpful. 10
  • The Shelbourne and the Westbury are both very nice, but can be very pricy. 22
  • Experts praise the distinguished public spaces and central location, with service that stays surprisingly warm despite the opulence. 3
  • The concierge staff is exceptional-my friend and I were in search of the city's finest Sunday roast and stopped by the desk on our way out to ask for recommendations. David gave us a true local's pub to try in a quieter part of town and it did not disappoint. 17
Food8 mentions
  • There's The Atrium Lounge for afternoon tea, The Mint Bar for cocktails, small plates and more, and Morelands Grill for expertly crafted modern Irish cuisine. We enjoyed a three course meal in Morelands, and I am still thinking about the pork belly starter served with spiced apple sauce. 11
  • "This hotel may lack the superior location of the Westbury, but it overshadows its peer with more distinguished public areas, better service, notable dining and superlative accommodations." 3
  • I went on the 14 Day Ireland tour as a single female traveler and stayed 3 days before the tour began at Buswells Hotel. I enjoyed my stay and they had an excellent breakfast. 22

  • I went on the 14 Day Ireland tour as a single female traveler and stayed 3 days before the tour began at Buswells Hotel. I enjoyed my stay and they had an excellent breakfast. It was easy to get around Dublin from this hotel. 22
  • Wake up to a scrumptious Irish breakfast the following morning and set the tone with a chilled bottle of champagne on arrival. 6
  • I have also stayed at Buswells during May of this year and we loved the service, friendliness, and the food in the restaurant. The location is perfect and is within a block of Trinity College and St. Stephens Green. 22
  • Start your day at the Morelands Breakfast Room for a spread that has something for everyone in your group. Peruse the hot bar, fruit station, and extensive pastry selection, or order a classic dish from the à la carte menu before heading out to explore the city. 17

  • I was traveling with a friend, so we opted for the Deluxe Double Double Room-we each had our own bed, and there was a little sitting area where we could sip on tea from our in-room kettle and watch The Great British Bake Off in our plush, branded hotel robes each night before bed. 17
  • No, many face out too. However the views are not amazing and I'm not sure I'd want to pay much more simply for an outward facing window - although I did once have a room like you describe and yes, it was pretty uninspiring. 10

  • The Grafton Suite - very nice two room suite overlooking Trinity College and the Royal Bank. Very nice. 10
