Read it your way

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Anaheim Maingate is an all-suite property tailored for families visiting the local theme parks. The hotel delivers spacious multi-bed floor plans, accommodating customer service, and views of the Disney fireworks from select rooms. However, guests consistently complain about poor sleep quality caused by overly firm mattresses, springy sofa beds, and noticeable noise between rooms. 101235

What travelers noticed

  • The suite-style layouts provide generous living space and practical room separation for families. 10
  • The front desk and housekeeping staff consistently receive praise for being accommodating, polite, and helpful. 83
  • Rooms facing the parks provide clear views of the Disneyland fireworks without having to brave the crowds. 1046
  • Bathrooms are well-appointed with modern basin sinks, marble counter tops, and reliable hot water. 3

The catch

  • While some guests describe the walk to the parks as a doable 15 to 20 minutes, others found the trek exhausting and closer to a 45-minute walk after long park days. 31012
  • Some visitors enjoy the free breakfast buffet and its popular Mickey Mouse waffles, whereas others consider the eggs and sausage inedible and note a lack of healthy choices. 354
  • A few reviewers found their beds perfectly comfortable, but others reported overly firm regular mattresses and thin, springy sofa beds. 93

Who it's for

  • Families needing multi-bed suite layouts
  • Park visitors wanting in-room fireworks views
  • Travelers looking for extra living space

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers sensitive to hallway noise and thin walls
  • Guests who rely on high-quality mattresses and sofa beds

  • My kids loved the breakfast, especially the waffles! I had the oatmeal and loved it! 3
  • One of the biggest perks of this hotel is the free hot breakfast that is served daily. 6

Location

  • SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate is located just about a 15-minute walk from Disneyland, making it a great option for families who want to stay close without being directly on Harbor Boulevard. 10
  • The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Anaheim Maingate is located close to Disney's Main Gate and if you aren't feeling the 15-to-20-minute walk to Disney, public transportation is available every 20 minutes right outside of the hotel entrance. 12

Noise

  • we were on the fourth floor and we did hear some other noise because there are a lot of children in the hotel and some traffic noise but it didn't bother me too bad 42:38
  • There were not a lot of healthy eating options so be prepared to fall off the diet wagon. It should be noted that the breakfast area was quite loud. If you have sensitive ears, be prepared. Everyone tends to be getting ready for their day at Disney and the children tend to be quite loud. 12

Room

  • One of my favorite things about SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate is the spacious suite-style rooms. Every room is a suite, so you're getting extra space to stretch out-which is a huge win when you're traveling with kids or just want to unwind after a long park day. 10
  • My room did not have any unusual smells or anything like that, and my bed was perfectly comfortable. 11

Service

Bed & Sleep

92
read from 1 source · Deep coverage
  • okay so here's the couch bed so just to show you here pull off the cushions and if it did sink down in the middle so some people have said in the past it's a good idea to put those couch cushions under it as you fold it out if that helps you support it a little bit but it did a good job for just sleeping a few kids and we just made it with the sheets that they already included 42:46
  • I wouldn't say the beds were bad (so if that's implied) just not as good as I would've expected for a hotel that's otherwise so strong. It seemed to me like they cheaped out on them to some degree. With that said, yeah, I still fell asleep quickly and had a fine night's sleep. Definitely not a deal-breaker for me! 3

Value

89
read from 1 source · Deep coverage
  • Overall, the SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate offers excellent value, especially for families or groups needing a bit more space than a traditional hotel room provides. 10
  • In addition to its pricing being slightly lower (on average), the rooms are also larger. The big difference is the second television and the separation of the seating area, which could be a nice gain for a family looking to spread out. 3

  • Each employee we encountered was friendly and accommodating. 9
  • It's on par with pretty much any standard suburban full-service Marriott; I feel like it's been well-maintained and renovated recently enough to feel more "fresh" than "dumpy". 17
  • they got a few of these waffle makers going and you just kind of stand in line it's about two and a half minutes and you have some really awesome Mickey Mouse waffles so this is my daughter's favorite part so we had to come back to this hotel basically just for these and they came out really good On camera43:23
  • they only do housekeeping in the rooms once every two days On camera83:32
  • the front desk area was very nice it always smelled really good and was well kept and nice and clean On camera41:06
  • Additionally all the white towels in our rooms were grayish and looked like they were not clean. 11
  • customer service at the hotel was excellent it didn't matter if it was the front desk the housekeeping staff or anybody else On camera82:47
  • The shampoo and shower gel were not well marked, and I found them tough to read. We needed some additional towels and the housekeeping staff were prompt and friendly with the request. We returned after our day at Disney to a restocked and cleaned room each day. 12
  • The staff were very accommodating and willing to help find anything in the hotel. They were all very good about not interacting (ignoring) with my guide dog. 12
  • Sign up for news, Disney deals & free planning tips We stayed at the Anaheim Main Gate in July 2021 for 4 nights. They were skimpy with towels so my son went to the office to ask for more. They said oh we are short on towels. Then a lady handed him some but they were dirty and used. 11
  • I would recommend asking someone at the check in desk to show you were it is - they are extremely nice and very accommodating. 12
  • It's a bit farther from Disneyland front gate than some hotels but If you don't like the ten minute walk you can always spend the 5 bucks and take an Uber - it's well worth it after a full day in the park. Also worth mentioning was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. 3
  • In the bedrooms, you'll find fun decorative family-inspired touches like these Mickey-shaped towel arrangements on the beds and colorful artwork with fireworks. 6
Room24 mentions · 7 filmed
  • The sofa bed mattresses were thin and looked uncomfortable. 9
  • you can tell the Toto gets a lot of business as there's obvious signs of wear and tear there were damaged Corners throughout the room water damage to the lampshade the leather on the couch was wearing thin and there was other things here and there On camera83:20
  • The room was large and the furniture was not to scale so the room looked sparsely furnished. 9
  • The safe was high above on the closet shelf so it was hard to access. 9
  • as comfortable with this hotel was it wasn't as comfortable as the other Spring Hill Suites that we have visited that have the west elm furniture On camera83:06
  • In addition to being a dump, the room quite literally smelled like a dump. Too bad photos can't convey scent yet (actually, in this case, that's for the best)... 11
  • this hotel room had lots of space which made it easy to bring in extra suitcases and luggage and all that stuff without having to worry about where to put it On camera82:12
  • The second was the large, kid/adult separation in the rooms. Both kids and adults got a nice feeling of privacy / separation without the cost of a one or two bedroom hotel room. 3
  • there was only one piece of furniture that acted like a closet so if you wanted to hide your suitcase it wasn't really possible On camera83:13
  • From the entrance, through a maze of furniture in the seating area is the breakfast area. There are a good number of tables available, with good maneuvering distance between them, so plenty of room for those using mobility aids. 12
  • our room was very nice it included a living room area with a couch and a separate bedroom area with two queen beds On camera81:04
  • as for the rooms they did have a few different options we chose the one bed with a pull out couch so this is what the room looks like it was spacious it was clean it had a little bit of tile separating the two carpeted areas On camera41:42
  • NO in room safes, which was a huge inconvenience. We had to go to the front desk & use a (complimentary) safe deposit box, but that was a hassle. 3
  • this one had some bunk beds which was very good for the kids two large beds so just a little different of a layout maybe this suits you a little better On camera47:46
  • Also, there is very little storage in the room - lots of space for it, but nothing put in. Just 3 tiny little drawers, which was very surprising as this is meant to be a "residence" for potentially longer stays, but no where to put your stuff. 3
  • The well-maintained and spacious studio and one-bedroom suites at SpringHill Suites have a minimalist, contemporary look. 5
  • The television didn't work, the beds were uncomfortable, and most of the furniture looked like it was found along the side of the road. 11
  • One of my favorite things about SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate is the spacious suite-style rooms. Every room is a suite, so you're getting extra space to stretch out-which is a huge win when you're traveling with kids or just want to unwind after a long park day. 10
  • The one-bedroom suite was huge. 9
  • We stayed in a King bed suite; the room was spacious and included a sitting area with couch and table. 12
  • The room was large and the furniture was not to scale so the room looked sparsely furnished. There were tons of electrical outlets but some of them didn't work. 9
  • My room did not have any unusual smells or anything like that, and my bed was perfectly comfortable. 11
  • If you're looking for a magical touch, the Queen Studio with Fireworks View is a standout option. Imagine ending your Disney day by watching the fireworks from the comfort of your room-no crowds, no noise, just your own private viewing spot! 10
  • This layout was nice, and one we had not encountered with other similar hotels in Anaheim. It effectively compartmentalized the room, and would allow early-risers or night-owls to catch up on Swamp People while others sleep. 3
Food15 mentions · 3 filmed
  • The maids hadn't locked it. They advertised breakfast muffins in the office but there were never any available. 11
  • One of the biggest perks of this hotel is the free hot breakfast that is served daily. 6
  • And lastly, their breakfast, while much larger than what was offered at the Spring Hill (their staff even told us breakfast was much better at the Residence Inn), it wasn't great. I found the eggs inedible, and the staff seemed to have a really hard time keeping up with demand - constantly out of things & guests had to wait around for refills. 3
  • The person overseeing the breakfast area did a great job making sure things were available and was quick to refill coffee, pastries and other goodies as they needed. 12
  • A year-round outdoor heated pool, hot tub, and fitness center top the amenities list, and while the hotel lacks a restaurant, it offers a crowd-pleasing free hot breakfast buffet. 5
  • The free breakfast buffet earns solid reviews from previous guests for its generous spread of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, make-your-own waffles, and a wide range of cold items. 5
  • as great as it was to have free breakfast it felt like they didn't replenish some of the items as quickly as they needed to On camera83:36
  • the free breakfast in the morning saved us from having to spend money at the parks or on our way to the parks On camera82:41
  • The free continental breakfast is not the best, which is about par for the course in Anaheim. The eggs and sausage were pretty much inedible. 3
  • I don't think the beds were as bad as you say (it only took me 38 seconds to fall asleep after a major butt-kicking from 2 parks). Also the breakfast was very good IMHO. 3
  • On the plus side, there were some nice packaged items (Chobani yogurt!), fruit, and coffee, so it wasn't a total loss. 3
  • Breakfast was free so you get what you pay for. The fake eggs were indicative of the quality of the breakfast. 9
  • My kids loved the breakfast, especially the waffles! I had the oatmeal and loved it! 3
  • The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Anaheim Maingate offered a very nice selection of breakfast items, including a waffle station, eggs and all the other goodies. 12
  • they do have a very large eating area for breakfast and they did have a good breakfast each morning which I'll show you a little bit more here On camera41:12

  • Then at bed time we discovered that the sofa bed mattress was exceedingly thin, very springy (as in you could feel every spring) and super uncomfortable! 3
  • My biggest complaint about the SpringHill Suites was the bedding. The mattress was overly-firm for my tastes, and nothing about the sheets or pillows screamed 'high quality' to me. 3
  • The biggest downside as compared to the Hyatt House is that the bedding is inferior. This could be (partly) a matter of personal preference, but the Hyatt House features Hyatt's "Grand Beds" which have a pillow top mattress, ultra-plush pillows, and triple sheeting. By contrast, the SpringHill Suites' mattress was firm, and just did not seem as nice. 3

  • The bathrooms are a definite plus, and in the same upgraded style as others around Anaheim. Nice basin sink, marble counter top, and highly effective lighting. 3
  • I love the kids suites and having the bathroom in the middle! 3
  • and here for the bathroom it had a very large barn door with a glass mirror on it and so that really did help when using the restroom at night not to wake other people up On camera41:56
  • The safe was high above on the closet shelf so it was hard to access. We had issues with the shower handle which we brought to their attention. They weren't able to fix it during our stay as the maintenance guy had to order the parts. 9
  • We did really like the queen beds (comfy), and the bathroom was great, with a large walk in shower. 3
  • The shampoo and shower gel were not well marked, and I found them tough to read. 12
  • The bathroom smelled like there was a sewage leak, and we had to keep the door closed because it was nauseating. 11
  • the water was hot but the water pressure was not very good On camera83:42
  • My 80 year old mother stayed in room 217 and complained to me that her face towel had irritated her face. 11
  • For a family of 6, this might be a bit of a tight squeeze getting ready in the morning given the layout and single sink even though the layout is more spacious than the bathroom in the King Suite. 6
  • Shower is also a walk-in, which is another plus (for us, at least). 3
Noise4 mentions · 1 filmed
  • The A/C fan units were loud and we had to turn them off during the night. 9
  • we were on the fourth floor and we did hear some other noise because there are a lot of children in the hotel and some traffic noise but it didn't bother me too bad On camera42:38
  • These wood-frame, low budget, business class hotels have a glaring design deficiency, and that is noise. You end up hearing other guests really easily in your room, not to mention feeling the doors slam, etc. It's really quite distracting, and makes it impossible to sleep soundly if you are a light sleeper. 3
  • There were not a lot of healthy eating options so be prepared to fall off the diet wagon. It should be noted that the breakfast area was quite loud. If you have sensitive ears, be prepared. Everyone tends to be getting ready for their day at Disney and the children tend to be quite loud. 12

  • The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Anaheim Maingate is located close to Disney's Main Gate and if you aren't feeling the 15-to-20-minute walk to Disney, public transportation is available every 20 minutes right outside of the hotel entrance. 12
  • While I personally enjoy walking to Disneyland from almost every hotel, the location of this hotel makes it a bit difficult. Factor in walking to the tram pickup and then the potential for lines for security, you might wish that you had taken the ART shuttle or rideshare. 6
  • However, it has a solid location at the corner of Katella and Harbor, with a CVS Pharmacy directly under it (one of the largest and nicest CVS stores I've ever seen) and a Walgreen's across the street, making the SpringHill Suites a solid option if you want a convenient place to buy groceries or sundries. 3
Value5 mentions
  • I have stayed at this motel about 4 times, the most recent one being in February of 2016. Although I don't think that it is as nice as a Hilton or Marriott, I consider it to be completely acceptable and a good value for the money. 11
  • In addition to its pricing being slightly lower (on average), the rooms are also larger. The big difference is the second television and the separation of the seating area, which could be a nice gain for a family looking to spread out. 3
  • In terms of price, SpringHill Suites Anaheim Convention Center is very competitive. 3
  • Now I'm not saying it was anyone there but I had 5 charges to MetroPCS on my credit card that had only been used to book our room there! Good thing the bank thought the transactions were sketchy and called me for verification! 11
  • Overall, the SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate offers excellent value, especially for families or groups needing a bit more space than a traditional hotel room provides. 10

  • That is just beyond the parking lot in the above picture. There is a great fireworks view from many rooms that look in that direction. 6
