The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Radisson Blu Hotel Amsterdam Airport is a spacious, modern business hotel tailored for transit and corporate stays. Guests regularly compliment the effortless check-in, delicious breakfast, and quiet rooms with comfortable beds. However, standard rooms run on the smaller side, and noise from the after-meeting crowd at the lobby bar can disrupt guests in nearby rooms. 7121

  • i stayed at the novotel which is like 5 mins slow walk to hoofddorp station which takes you to both schiphol and centraal station (30mins). i spent two nights there and thought it was perfectly located and affordable then the ones closer to the city centre. 3
  • It is almost faster than trying to get a shuttle or walking from a nearby hotel. We've stayed at the CitizenM several times and like it a lot. The rooms are unusual so look in to them before you book :). There's a walkway right to the airport, couldn't be easier. 4

  • The hotel offers 281 modern rooms that feature soundproofing. This is a huge plus for ensuring a quiet night's sleep despite being so close to a major transport hub. 90:38
  • The proximity to the airport wasn't noticeable (no plane noise, excellent black out shades). 4

Room

  • We stayed at the Mercure last year, and enjoyed it. We only had carry on bags, so that wasn't an issue. The room was small, but well appointed, and the bed was remarkably comfortable. I didn't want to get up the next morning! 10
  • Checking in was effortless and efficient and I had a fantastic room on the 5th floor overlooking the airport. 2

  • Suki, we usually do, too, but I was uncomfortable asking to store them for seven or eight hours. But the staff here couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. City Hotel Nieuw Minerva, for those who haven't seen my other, related thread. 4
  • Staff couldn't help enough especially Kristina who was on reception, she really went above and beyond to help make me and my husband's stay comfortable. 2

  • Where you're staying will be perfect for your departure. We usually stay at Van der Valk's Hotel Schiphol which is about 3 miles from the airport. It's a large business hotel, and perhaps the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in--anywhere. And the price is downright cheap. 4
  • While remaining on a luxury level, both restaurants offer tasty meals for a reasonable price. 12

  • I stayed at the Sheraton. It was very upscale. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable, never seen anything quite that impressive before. 10
  • Cloud Nine, the hotel's restaurant, serves fresh international dishes crafted with the kind of care that transforms a layover meal into an actual experience. 14
  • Great hotel. Great breakfast, Great People. 2
  • While remaining on a luxury level, both restaurants offer tasty meals for a reasonable price. 12
  • Buffet breakfast was a treat as they offered on te spot fresh items such as porridge. 2
  • Visit our restaurant to savor tasty seasonal dishes or keep up with your workout at our fully equipped fitness center. 13
  • Dinner in the evening was convenient and food was good, international kitchen. 2
  • OTIUM Restaurant & Lounge lets you refuel with delectable seasonal dishes made from fresh ingredients and offers a wide choice of wines and specialty beers. 1
  • The bar in the lobby area is very nice, and the food was decent. 11
  • A couple of months ago we stayed at the Sheraton. We enjoyed it and can recommend it. We ate dinner at the restaurant there and it was good. 11
  • Last year, I had planned to hop into Madrid center for dinner on a Saturday night (had a night layover) but I was so tired after traveling for 9 days in Morocco that I just stayed at the Hilton hotel resting, and enjoyed great dinner at their restaurant. 11
  • My rate did not include breakfast, but I added it and it was a terrific, well-made buffet (crepes! croissants!). 4
  • The onsite restaurant, O de M, serves a variety of breakfast options including American, continental, and gluten-free buffets. It is a great way to fuel up before a trip. On camera90:49
  • Breakfast the next morning was fantastic, I was met by Paula whose energy is amazing, I would say the right person in the right job. 2
  • I have stayed at Citizen M twice - once due to unexpected travel drama, the other on purpose. As Liz noted the room style is not for everyone especially if you don't want to share a bed with a travel mate. Easy short walk to/from the terminal. Depending on how early your flight is their breakfast buffet is quite good (doesn't start until 6 though). 10
  • The food choices was endless and very fresh. 2
  • I stayed at the Sheraton. It was very upscale. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable, never seen anything quite that impressive before. It's located just up an escalator from the airport shops and restaurants, so it was convenient to drop my bags and then go down the escalator to check out the shops and restaurants without having a bag to carry. 10

  • I stayed at Citizen M last year and will be staying again in October on my way back from Turkey. Very easy 5 minute walk from the terminal, self check in and out. 4
  • I decided to stay at Novotel and it's good! Close to the train station and a very peaceful area. 3
  • Radisson BLU Hotel Amsterdam Airport is a spacious and modern business hotel, a bit dull but well equipped and in general run on very good level. Its location is rather unfortunate, since Amsterdam is only another ten minutes ride further. 12
  • As the name suggests, this hotel is located just 20 minutes from the Amsterdam Airport. It is incredibly convenient for travelers looking to avoid long commutes before or after flight. On camera90:14
  • Radisson Blu Amsterdam has found a way to combine a delightful location with modern amenities that does not break the bank. 8
  • i stayed at the novotel which is like 5 mins slow walk to hoofddorp station which takes you to both schiphol and centraal station (30mins). i spent two nights there and thought it was perfectly located and affordable then the ones closer to the city centre. 3
  • What distinguishes the Radisson, however, is the unexpected gift of its location. Yes, the airport shuttle service and direct access to public transport and highways solve the practical puzzle of efficient connection. 14
  • I hated the atrium facing location. I want to look outside and not inside a hotel building. I don't want to see other guests in their hotel rooms. 7
  • It is almost faster than trying to get a shuttle or walking from a nearby hotel. We've stayed at the CitizenM several times and like it a lot. The rooms are unusual so look in to them before you book :). There's a walkway right to the airport, couldn't be easier. 4
  • Would recommend this hotel. It is Lao so close to the airport. You never leave it, it's attached. 4

  • I can't help with your hotel question, but a suggestion for a plan B if you're unable to get Anne Frank tickets is the Resistance Museum. We stayed one night at the Sheraton because of a similar situation as yours, and it was very nice, quiet and convenient, but we did not eat any meals there. 11
  • City Hotel Nieuw Minerva, for those who haven't seen my other, related thread. I'll post a review after we get home, but we love it. Big rooms, great staff, no elevator or a/c. 4
  • The hotel offers 281 modern rooms that feature soundproofing. This is a huge plus for ensuring a quiet night's sleep despite being so close to a major transport hub. On camera90:38
  • This room had a much smaller window than room 338 overlooking Rusland, but the added benefit was the room was on the west side of the hotel behind the row of houses on Oudezijds Achterburgwal canal. The room noise at night was far quieter than the Rusland facing room due to the houses between the room and the canal side street. 7
  • As the evening hours rolled around and the after-meeting crowd gathered in the lobby bar on a Sunday night, the noise was too much to keep our balcony door open. 7
  • The proximity to the airport wasn't noticeable (no plane noise, excellent black out shades). 4
  • We just stayed at the Hilton. No surprise charges. We showed up at 11am and were able to get in our room earlier. Very clean and quiet and the staff was fine. 11
Room15 mentions
  • Checking in was effortless and efficient and I had a fantastic room on the 5th floor overlooking the airport. 2
  • We stayed at the Mercure last year, and enjoyed it. We only had carry on bags, so that wasn't an issue. The room was small, but well appointed, and the bed was remarkably comfortable. I didn't want to get up the next morning! 10
  • The next morning we changed rooms for an exterior view room. The front desk moved us to another room with no question. 7
  • Joy, We stayed at the Hilton last year (we also stayed at the Citizen M which we didn't love; staff great but room a bit too quirky for the 2 of us). 11
  • Full-length mirrors, spacious wardrobes and strong air conditioning were all in place. It is clear that great attention to detail was put into the overall design and layout of the guest rooms. 8
  • The natural light flooding the room during the day made room 338 a delight. 7
  • Most of the rooms are not very big, but you have the possibility of staying in bigger Business Class room (25) or Junior Suite (11), Ladies' Suite (2), a Royal Suite and a Long Staying Apartment. 12
  • Possibly the coolest feature of the atrium facing room is the patio door and stand-up balcony overlooking the hotel atrium and lobby. 7
  • Room 338, our second room had a feature of a couple of steps at the doorway. I commented to Kelley how there should be a nightlight by the steps. 7
  • The brand's signature goji berry-infused toiletries are in the bright bathrooms with heated mirrors. I also appreciated free boxed water in the minibar and speedy Wi-Fi. 8
  • We just stayed at the Hilton. No surprise charges. We showed up at 11am and were able to get in our room earlier. Very clean and quiet and the staff was fine. 11
  • By the way, I just checked out of the Citizen M at CDG and it was excellent. However, the room is very small for two people. 4
  • The windows opened in room 338 providing cool fresh air and the sounds of Amsterdam. 7
  • The rooms are high tech controlled by an iPad (mood lighting!). They are pretty small and they only offer one king size bed (my nephew was a good sport about having to share - but we were staying there due to travel drama so he had to deal). 4
  • I just stayed at that Citizen M a few weeks ago. There is a covered walkway from the terminal to the hotel. 2 things you might find a negative: They only have 1-bed rooms and the bed is enclosed by wall on 3 sides. All lights, shades, etc. are controlled from an iPad. I disliked it, others may love it. 10
Service15 mentions
  • There exists a particular moment in travel when arrival transitions into genuine arrival. You step from the airport's fluorescent corridors into the bright, welcoming reception of the Radisson Hotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Hoofddorp, and something shifts. 14
  • The hotel has a big lobby, 24h reception, good dining facilities, and good gym and is prepared to service bigger business meetings and conferences. 12
  • Kind regards, Team Radisson Blu Amsterdam Airport We stayed as a family of four in the hotel (family room). We stayed as a family of four in the hotel (family room). Room was large and clean, it had just been deep cleaned. 2
  • We just stayed at the Hilton. No surprise charges. We showed up at 11am and were able to get in our room earlier. Very clean and quiet and the staff was fine. 11
  • The metro or tram will cost 2.90 EUR for a single ticket. We were surprised we could check-in at noon on a Sunday. Saturday nights are usually a busy time in Amsterdam. 7
  • Radisson BLU Hotel Amsterdam Airport is one of the best venues in the Amsterdam region for business meetings and conferences. It has a professional Business Centre with secretarial staff as well professional hosts to assist the assemblies. 12
  • Suki, we usually do, too, but I was uncomfortable asking to store them for seven or eight hours. But the staff here couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. City Hotel Nieuw Minerva, for those who haven't seen my other, related thread. 4

  • Joy, We stayed at the Hilton last year (we also stayed at the Citizen M which we didn't love; staff great but room a bit too quirky for the 2 of us). 11
  • I did not need to worry about getting to the hotel from the airport. There is a regular shuttle bus service straight to the hotel. The bus is clean, tidy and the driver is very friendly. 2
  • Staff couldn't help enough especially Kristina who was on reception, she really went above and beyond to help make me and my husband's stay comfortable. 2
  • Breakfast the next morning was fantastic, I was met by Paula whose energy is amazing, I would say the right person in the right job. She was warm and friendly to me and all patrons visiting the breakfast restaurant. 2
  • The bed is built into a kind of alcove, so it would be difficult for the person on the inside to get up without disturbing the other person. 4
  • The bright reception area and modern kiosks ensure that check-in itself becomes a seamless, welcoming moment rather than an administrative hurdle. 14
  • croissants!). We just left the Sheraton and the customer service was amazing! 4

  • The Hilton was fine except for my one complaint: I have never encountered such a slippery tile floor in a walk in shower plus there was nothing to hold on to. 11
  • Looked nice and we had good water pressure and temperature. 7
Value6 mentions
  • The Hilton is within walking distance, but I have to confess that I had a terrible experience there and avoid it at all costs. They "upcharge" for just about anything you can imagine and this drives me crazy! 10
  • While remaining on a luxury level, both restaurants offer tasty meals for a reasonable price. 12
  • The Hilton never saw an opportunity to charge extra that they miss. The price quoted may not be the final price. 11
  • Where you're staying will be perfect for your departure. We usually stay at Van der Valk's Hotel Schiphol which is about 3 miles from the airport. It's a large business hotel, and perhaps the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in--anywhere. And the price is downright cheap. 4
  • You should also know that hotels on the canals themselves can be expensive, but rooms here are often half that of some of the other familiar names in town like W, Kimpton and Renaissance (most of which don't have a direct canal view). 8
  • Not sure they'd meet your criteria but you might check them out. This is a "do not recommend" hotel. Avoid the Hilton at Schiphol. They never saw an extra charge or fee that they didn't like. 4
