The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

The Radisson Blu Aqua Chicago is a polished downtown base situated within walking distance of Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile. Guests consistently appreciate the comfortable beds, flexible front-desk service, and bright bathrooms equipped with walk-in rainfall showers. However, noise from neighboring rooms can disrupt sleep, and minor issues like missing bedside USB outlets and lackluster bar food draw occasional complaints. 1331920

  • Okay, can we PLEASE talk about how the bathroom mirrors were not only lighted, but also had a small magnified mirror on the side? I'm pretty sure this is probably the first hotel that I can confidently say had amazing bathroom lighting. 5
  • The bathroom was large, modern and practical with a double shower, separate toilet and washbasin. 14

  • I wasn't lucky, but was very satisfied with my City View corner room, which was large, light and airy with a modern feel. 14

Room14 mentions
  • Decor varies at Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, but all guest rooms are sleek and sophisticated. 3
  • Plenty of power sockets. No smoking. Excellent service. Well-stocked mini bar. 14
  • During my second stay, I was given room 1507, a non-corner room that had a better layout, although no balcony. 17
  • I had to complain about the damn dog in the room next to me. They sent up security, I fell asleep. 20
  • Even if I only left my room for an hour or two in the morning to grab breakfast or run and errand, I could expect to come back to the bed perfectly made and the room thoughtfully put together. Housekeeping even thought to cover my water so nothing would get into it while I was away. 5
  • The hotel is home to more than 28,000 square feet of event space with striking views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan. 19
  • I wasn't lucky, but was very satisfied with my City View corner room, which was large, light and airy with a modern feel. 14
  • I was upgraded to a business class room with a limited view of Lake Michigan. The room like most Radisson hotels was nice but not spectacular. 20
  • Every room has a wave-shaped balcony with a view of the Chicago skyline and sites like Lake Michigan, the Park in Lakeshore East, or Buckingham Fountain. You'll never tire of snapping selfies on the unique balcony or the trippy feeling of staring up at the wavy exterior. 12
  • The decor is well-thought out and sleek, avoiding the classic "dated hotel" or "clashing decor." 5
  • There are a range of different suites but these only have one bed in the main bedroom - so good for families but less so for friends travelling together. This time I was on the 17th floor with a balcony - a nice bonus when the weather is good. 18
  • The outdoor terrace is the kind of place you want to come hang out even if you're not staying overnight-and you can. 12
  • This time I was on the 17th floor with a balcony - a nice bonus when the weather is good. The view over Millenium Park was the icing on the cake, too. 18
  • I liked the long glass desk/credenza beside the windows that allowed me to appreciate the view during work breaks. 11

  • Rates are very reasonable for such a classy hotel - this is a shining example of affordable luxury and has some amazing touches. 18
  • I doubt it gets much better for the price in Chicago - there's nothing missing at the Radisson and more facilities than you'd expect. 14
  • Otherwise an absolutely excellent hotel with unusual amenities and reasonable prices. 7
  • It's worth comparison shopping, as prices are competitive and not inexpensive considering the location. 3
  • I always think they could throw in breakfast for this kind of price but Chicago has plenty to offer here so I'll not be docking points for this. 14
  • The most raggedy pool table I have ever met in my life. Otherwise an absolutely excellent hotel with unusual amenities and reasonable prices. 7
  • Nearby hotels include the Swissotel, Hyatt Regency Chicago, and Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park. All of these parkside accommodations are pricey, but the Radisson is pretty much at the top of the spectrum. 19
Location16 mentions
  • Public transportation is also convenient, with a 10-minute walk to the closest metro station. 3
  • The Aqua has an excellent location, is stylish yet laid-back and has superb facilities. 18
  • Being walking distance from 'the bean' and some Batman locations was a nice plus in addition to the aforementioned central position. 14
  • The hotel occupies the first 18 floors of the Aqua Tower, which sits at the edge of Millennium Park in downtown's Near East Side. The cityscape views from this vantage point are incredible. It's an easy walk to the Art Institute of Chicago and State Street shopping. 6

  • Great location for exploring the city and a welcome perch to return to that champions Chicago's design prowess. 11
  • As for the hotel itself, it was really conveniently located to millennium park, the river and the magnificent mile. 24
  • With a prime location on the Chicago River near the Loop and an enticing suite of amenities, it's a fantastic choice whether you want to see Chicago's landmarks or unwind inside. 12
  • Only minutes from the shopping of Michigan Ave and the Sunday Funday experience of El Hefe, the Radisson Blu Aqua is ideally located. 20
  • The Radisson Blu Aqua is conveniently located in the Loop, a bustling area that's home to Chicago's business district, Theatre District, major cultural institutions, and famous parks. 3
  • What I appreciated about where the Radisson Blu Aqua is located in Chicago vs. other hotels I've stayed at in Chicago is how the location is central and very close to many of the city's main attractions, however tucked in a spot that isn't too loud or noisy. 5
  • Within walking distance of Millennium Park and The Magnificent Mile, this Radisson - which falls within the Radisson Hotel Group brand - serves as an excellent home base for city exploration but doesn't seem too tourist-focused. 13
  • Highlight: A landscaped outdoor walking and jogging path offers stunning downtown views. 12
  • For a hotel in a prime Chicago location, you really can't do any better! 5
  • And though this property puts you near a variety of neighborhood eateries, visitors recommend the FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar. 13
  • Prime location in the Loop near Millennium Park, Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier and Chicago's Union Station 16
View4 mentions

  • Every room comes with a view of Lakeshore East Park, Lake Michigan, Millennium Park or the Windy City skyline. There's also free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, coffee and tea appliances, and lush bedding. 19
  • While Lake Michigan is toward the east, you won't see much of it as other buildings are in the way. It was still a fantastic view! 17

Service11 mentions
  • Like the Radisson in Iceland, the service at the Radisson Blu Aqua was excellent. From allowing me to check-in at 9AM to extending my check-out to 2PM, the hotel staff did everything to make my stay comfortable. 20
  • The stylishly designed rooms feature flat-screen TVs, single-service coffee makers and free Wi-Fi access - all amenities for which previous guests are thankful. 13
  • Excellent service from check-in to check-out; the concierge had excellent local knowledge and staff were helpful in obtaining taxis etc. 18
  • Don't recall any issues we had and the rooms were spacious and nice. 24

  • I truthfully have never been to a single hotel with better staff than the Radisson Blu Aqua. 5
  • Recent guests say the Radisson Blu Aqua maintains a boutique hotel feel without sacrificing the high customer service standards hallmark to the brand. 13
  • The light wood floors were 1. Not an eyesore and 2. Felt so much cleaner than old carpet. I didn't feel like I needed to be concerned as to how well the carpet was cleaned. It was an unexpected contemporary and chic touch. 5
  • All staff were friendly and helpful and clearly take pride in their work - the hallmark of a well-run hotel. 18
Bed & Sleep2 mentions
  • The bed was perfect. Not too soft, not too firm. 5
  • The bed was really comfortable as were the selection of pillows. 18
Food5 mentions
  • I tend to have a small issue with hotel breakfasts just because most of them are over by 9 am. Not the case here! Breakfast was served until 10 or 11 am each day, making it easy to sleep in and not have to miss out. 5
  • On-site restaurant, Filini, offers a chic atmosphere while serving classic Italian cuisine 16
  • Dining: Filini serves excellent Italian cuisine-octopus salad, handmade pastas, tuna crudo, seared foie gras-by a chef who's worked at Le Cirque and Le Bernardin in New York. 6
  • Decor is equally swank at the industrial-chic restaurant, and the inviting rooftop pool and bar has stellar skyline views. 3
  • I called the front desk and luckily I was really tired and finally fell asleep as we had walked miles that day on a private tour. Also the food in the bar is nothing spectacular. My friend got sick with a migraine and did not feel like going out so I went downstairs and ate in the bar. 20
Noise1 mention
  • y floor but the lobby, you need to have your room key to unlock them in the elevator, which prevents random people from coming off the street and making their way into the hotel! 5
