The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Housed in a historic landmark, this property features suite-style one-bedroom accommodations right by Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. Guests appreciate the top-floor observation deck with panoramic city and harbor views, as well as the convenience of daily trash and towel service. However, quarters on lower floors can be noisy on weekends due to nearby State Street bars, and bathrooms come with standard tub-shower combinations rather than walk-in showers. 314715

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • Suites provide clean and comfortable one-bedroom layouts with kitchenettes that sleep up to four guests. 14313
  • The top-floor outdoor observation deck offers panoramic 360-degree views overlooking the harbor, Faneuil Hall, and the Zakim Bridge. 3114
  • The central location places visitors within short walking distance of Quincy Market, Christopher Columbus Park, and the New England Aquarium. 1313

The catch

  • While some guests enjoy breakfast at The Counting Room, others consider the paid continental spread of bagels and pastries basic and underwhelming. 14
  • Some visitors commend the helpful concierge and daily activities, whereas others found the concierge desk unoccupied during their stay. 3

Who it's for

  • Families needing suite-style rooms with kitchenettes
  • Sightseers exploring Faneuil Hall and the waterfront
  • Guests seeking panoramic harbor and city views

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers staying on lower floors over the weekend
  • Travelers who prefer modern walk-in showers over tub combinations

  • Though a concierge is supposedly on duty daily, the desk was unoccupied when I visited multiple times. 3
  • And then there's not a lot of drawer space in this unit. This is a corner unit here and those drawers are kind of angled. So, we didn't have a lot of space for our clothing in the drawers. On camera172:51

  • When it comes to the timeshare industry, Marriott Vacation Club is one of the best vacation clubs. Each resort they have offers fabulous amenities, modern accommodations, and helpful members of staff. 14

  • Quarters above the 7th floor have stellar views: My 18th-floor perch afforded a spectacular panorama of the harbor, Faneuil Hall, and the Zakim Bridge. 3
  • On-site, guests will have the best view of the city from the 26th-floor observation deck. The deck shows a 360-degree panoramic view, making it the perfect spot to see it all. 14
Location5 mentions
  • Centrally located two blocks west of the harbor, the New England Aquarium and Christopher Columbus Park, and directly south of the tourist mecca that is Faneuil Hall, the Harborside is an ideal home base for tourists, with easy access to dozens of restaurants and bars. 3

  • And then there's the Custom House's incredible location. Just two short blocks from the State House (on the Freedom Trail route) in one direction, one block from Faneuil Square and Quincy Market in another, and half a block from the New England Aquarium in yet another, visitors can walk nearly anywhere. 1

  • Huge, 650-square-foot, suite-style rooms were given soft renovations in February 2009 and, though not particularly design conscious or state of the art, they're comfortable and clean. 3

  • I felt completely at home, and not just because they hosted us in one of their Eagel Suites, one of 87 one-bedroom suites that make up the vacation property. Just below Custom House's clock, we were high above the city, with sweeping panoramic views thanks to the suite's two balconies. 13
