Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

InterContinental Le Moana offers traditional overwater and beach bungalows on Bora Bora's main island with views of Mount Otemanu. Guests praise the comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms with standalone tubs, and freedom from motu isolation. However, visitors frequently note the property shows age, Wi-Fi is sluggish, and resort food is expensive. 20102313

What travelers noticed

  • The resort's main-island setting lets guests visit off-property dining and snorkeling spots without feeling trapped by motu isolation. 104
  • Bungalow bathrooms are spacious, featuring dual sinks, open showers, and large standalone soaker tubs. 819
  • Postcard lagoon views toward Mount Otemanu and direct beach access are highlights across the grounds. 211310
  • Beds provide reliable comfort with quality linens and quiet sleeping conditions. 1115

The catch

  • On-site food draws mixed reviews, with some guests praising the fresh poke, swordfish, and breakfast omelet station while others found meals mediocre and chose to eat on the main island. 9

  • So, like I say, older property, but everything, you know, your beds are good, your linens are good, the quality of the the maintenance is is fantastic 11
  • With postcard lagoon views and genuinely friendly service, it's easy to see why so many guests return. 10
  • Staff was incredibly friendly and the restaurant was quite good albeit quite pricey even for FP standards. 5
  • We were greeted warmly by the staff as well as the general manager of the resort came to greet us, which was impressive. I saw her several times during our stay at the resort, always friendly and willing to help us with anything. 13
  • this is the bed one cool thing is that you can request what kind of pillows you want so you can request better pillows and boost down pillows or memory phone pillows so these are all the different type of pillows you can request On camera94:20
  • And I really like the style. It's got a traditional look. Kind of looks like we're in a a hut. That's the style. I like that though in tropical places. On camera47:00
  • The concierge insisted that my only option for transferring to the St. Regis was to pay $150 for a hotel boat, provided by Le Moana, or $40 for a taxi connecting to a $50 boat. The St. Regis revealed to me via email that the $50 boat was actually free, though, and that $40 taxi actually turned out to only cost me $20 (though that depended on who you asked). 8
  • We have stayed at the four seasons and Conrad but the last time we went, last month we stayed at Le Pearl in the overwater suite for a couple nights and then on the beach for a couple of nights. It was my favorite!!! The staff are amazing! 5
  • The helpful hotel concierge staff called Avis, which is within a short walking distance of IC Le Moana. 13
  • The food-and-beverage manager was quite nasty throughout the exchange, and only after speaking with the general manager was I able to get the charge reversed. 8
  • Staff were super nice and greeted us by name. Great food. Activity desk was very helpful and made it easy to arrange things to do. 7
  • Activity desk was very helpful and made it easy to arrange things to do. 7
  • I saw her several times during our stay at the resort, always friendly and willing to help us with anything. Their concierge staff was very helpful and willing to plan any excursion, tour, or activity for us. 13
  • Bungalows at Westin are smaller than the fancier resorts ( FS and St Regis) but super nice and well appointed. 5
  • I think because we had stayed there and because we had also stayed at the IC Bora Bora, they were pleasantly accommodating and agreed to hold our luggage. 13
  • service was great and the staff was attentive On camera98:54
  • Le Moana had more Polynesian employees who were very friendly. 5
  • the other main issue was terrible service at L Meridian the employees looked miserable and I think this was an overall management issue guests were barely greeted around the property and it took forever to get any type of service On camera24:25
  • Service is slow and can feel impolite & unsupportive. 20
  • so here's the boat over here that's going to bring us over to the main island and it's quite nice that it's a complimentary service during the day are not just restricted to the Conrad you can actually go explore the rest of Bora Bora On camera212:53
  • Staff were super nice and greeted us by name. 7
  • Le Moana had more Polynesian employees who were very friendly. Westin had more French employees. 5
  • Especially disappointing at Le Moana were my interactions with some of the staff, particularly when there was an opportunity for the hotel to part me from my money. 8
  • After a lengthy check-in process, I decided to familiarize myself with the resort. 8
  • some of the things you know the fact that there's no bicycles here the fact that the service was only so so especially for Four Seasons to standard I got to say On camera2113:43

  • For meals, the breakfast buffet is outstanding - anything you could want - and didn't feel much like eating a big lunch anywhere! We liked the casual dining spot on the sand the best for dinner. 5
  • the main issue is when a restaurant is charging Michelin star prices for mediocre quality food On camera23:35
  • The food at the resort absolutely blew us away and tremendously exceeded our expectations! Though we didn't dine in the main dining room for dinner, we did oft for room service for dinner twice during our stay and could not have been happier! 1
  • Each Tuesday and Saturday night, the Intercontinental does an international theme night with a wonderful buffet and a Tahitian dance show to live drums, guitars, and ukulele music. 13
  • We did go to the main island for dinner one night and enjoyed it. We really just enjoyed relaxing and hanging out at the pool and our bungalow. The food was great as well as the service. 5
  • nd a bar we redeemed our free drink vouchers here bar food was just okay 18
  • I'm at the intercon right now. Very nice, just walked to a great restaurant for dinner. OWB doesn't really feel all that dated. We're enjoying it! 5
  • My favorite foods were swordfish and bite-size desserts, which make it feasible to try more than one. We were at the resort for 6 nights and ate there on 2 of those. The other night we ate there and had delicious tacos. 13
  • we opted for seats at the bar since we like to watch chefs cook we ordered a tuna roll brace whole fish and fried rice everything was delicious On camera27:35
  • this is a really cool coffee SP that also doubles as a Loy area for fish underneath our Bungalow are a few Coral Gardens so you can see the fish and if you want to get a closer look or feed them table also opens up On camera182:28
  • In contrast the Polynesian night was $125 per person at L Meridian and the food was not good On camera27:57
  • I paired my tuna with sliced steak, green beans and fresh-squeezed carrot juice, along with a pot of coffee. Everything was quite tasty. 8
  • and we really enjoyed the food at the Four Seasons but I warn you it's pricey so be prepared until next time On camera153:44
  • for of the reges the butter chicken is probably one of the best value ones and very filling I'm someone who eats a lot of food and I could imagine myself getting full off of this especially since bread plus the other item whoever else is getting ends up being pretty fulling On camera26:51
  • The cocktails come with olives and roasted coconut meat (both of which are delicious), and the tapas menu is also quite good. 20
  • For meals, the breakfast buffet is outstanding - anything you could want - and didn't feel much like eating a big lunch anywhere! We liked the casual dining spot on the sand the best for dinner. Didn't eat off the resort so can't offer advice on that. 5
  • the breakfast spread is basic and includes hot and cold items plus an omelet bar it was fine for a two night stay On camera188:38
  • Yeah, the breakfast buffet is amazing. It was my favorite meal every day. It was kind of the same thing every day, but it was also a little different every day, so there was a little bit of variety, but everything on the breakfast buffet is so good. 22
  • Though it wasn't the largest buffet spread I've seen at a resort, the selection was fairly diverse and high-quality. 8
  • The food was delicious and was delivered promptly, just 20 minutes after I placed an order. 8
  • We stayed there for 5 nights and loved every second of it. However food absolutely sucks. For a few days I just went to main island and got to go because I didn't want to eat their uncooked pizza, dried fish etc. 5
  • for breakfast there was a large Buffet spread of meats cheeses fruits hot foods like eggs hash bounds bacon and Polynesian Cuisine there was also an omelet and egg station this was definitely a better variety and quality compared to what was offered at L Moana On camera95:34
  • the food on property is a bit pricey if you plan to eat dinner at any of the restaurants in taso I would budget at least $100 per person and that's not including drinks On camera97:05
  • We opted to include breakfast every day in our reservation since it looked like a good deal. There was a big selection of food, from bacon to cereal and yogurt, and a variety of other international choices. I personally loved the wide variety of bread, pastries, crepes, and fruits. 13
  • For meals, the breakfast buffet is outstanding - anything you could want - and didn't feel much like eating a big lunch anywhere! 5
  • Despite my server confirming that the breakfast was included and me signing a check for zero dollars, the hotel attempted to charge me an obscene $45 for the meal upon checkout. 8
  • I think breakfast was better at Westin. 5
  • on the first night we had light snacks at the beach bar which consisted of toas each food item was around $7 we ordered calamari and Sam and Christini portions were really small and it was just okay which didn't give us the confidence to splurge at the the main restaurants On camera97:15

  • And then the best part is the location cuz look at this. Absolutely magnificent. On camera48:25
  • Incredible location and views. Water sports were free and easy to borrow. 7
  • So essentially it's a brand new hotel. It has a fabulous location looking at Mt Otemanu and the lagoon is beautiful. 5
  • They also have gorgeous views out over the lagoon and the nearby islands of Raiatea and Taha'a, a positive also shared by the beach villas which sit right at the edge of the powder-like white sands. 7
  • The Intercontinental Le Moana is located near the southern tip of the main island. Our bungalow faced east, so we had beautiful sunrises. One of the best parts about it is its close proximity to Matira Beach. 13
  • despite having one of the best located hotels for us at least it didn't really exude the LAN brand it felt very much like a big chain corporate hotel On camera29:23
  • And then here you are. So you have two sun loungers, a table, two chairs, and then a beautiful location, this property at Mira Beach. 11

  • the other interesting thing is that you actually have your own little shower out here that is a bit more consistent than the ones by the overwater ones so if you go for a swim and you want to come back here and wash off the salt water On camera188:04
  • The bathroom was spacious and featured a standalone tub, an open shower and side-by-side sinks. There weren't many bathroom amenities to speak of. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were mounted (and locked) in the shower, which, while environmentally friendly, felt exceptionally cheap. 8
