The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Hyatt Place Scottsdale/Old Town offers practical accommodations with spacious junior suites featuring king beds, abundant charging plugs, and swiveling TVs. The friendly and outgoing staff consistently draw praise for their helpful service. However, the hotel suffers from severe noise issues, particularly from adjacent Old Town nightclubs that disrupt sleep in west-facing rooms, alongside doors that let in hallway commotion. 2121316

  • Nice hotel and staff is great but 1 star because of exterior noise. If you're on the west side of building, don't plan on sleeping because of club noise next door. 12
  • I often show up at Hyatts late and dirty and tired and they welcome me like the Queen of England. 1
  • The hotel is older and the hardware shows its age, but overall very clean, comfortable, and the staff is top notch- efficient, professional and upbeat. 10
  • I liked the homey vibe they went for, it felt very nice and decorative. 3
  • Nice hotel and staff is great but 1 star because of exterior noise. 12

  • The font desk staff was okay. 12
  • The service at the Grand Hyatt was excellent! They were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help with recommendations or special requests. 13
  • Rooms are nice and modern but nothing grand. 5
  • The male employee on the phone in the evening directed me to call in the morning when the housekeeping staff were back. Called in the morning & Diana was dismissive. 12
  • I often show up at Hyatts late and dirty and tired and they welcome me like the Queen of England. "Hello, Ms. Dunwichit. Thank you for being an Explorist. Please enjoy some free water! You look like you need it!" 1

  • okay guys let's give this a try our oyster as you can see it's not as big as I thought it'll be but it looks like a a really fresh one so this is one of our chef's special let's give it a try very good very fresh and the cilantro and the lemon juice and I don't know what exact what's the other one but some a little bit of some tomato Pine chopped tomato and really good so I like it On camera1418:50
  • I will say, at Hyatt House Frankfurt Eschborn in Germany, the free breakfast was German enough that this issue didn't apply. GREAT European coffee along with other local stuff that covered our needs with jus 1
  • Food selection is quite limited compared to other grand clubs. 5
  • For us non globalist laypeople the free breakfast in the morning is just too good value to pass up, even if it is worse than a breakfast I could make at home- food is food and there's always an option to eat less if planning to save room for a bite while on vacation. 1
  • While I do sometimes miss the sit-down breakfast offered when there's no club, I was impressed by the quality of the food. 13
  • Breakfast is almost back to pre-pandemic, except the hot course was pre-packaged (scrambled eggs, potatoes and bacon one day, sausage the next). The coffee was good (as always). 18
  • I realize the buffet breakfast is not true restaurant quality and won't suffice if that's the preference. It is not and will never be. For my non discriminating family, it's usually good enough. 1
  • M the carne asada is very tender and it's just that has that authentic you know taste right honey it's like almost like a street tacos M but you know it's more like fancy restaurant type of syrup but the taste excellent 14
  • The breakfast area is pathetic and the food was pretty pitiful. 12
  • I'm not a huge fan of traditional Hyatt House/Hyatt Place breakfasts, but it was fine. The food was fresh, there was available seating, and the areas were clean. 18
  • In general, any hotel experience at the chains in the US is pretty lackluster at best so I see your point. That said, HP outside the US can be better than a Regency in the US. And you are usually given a nice breakfast. 1
  • The Grand Hyatt Scottsdale is in a prime location, surrounded by some of Phoenix's best restaurants. With shopping and dining just a short walk away, everything you need is close by. 13
  • The breakfast selection was somewhat limited, but everything was absolutely delicious, with a selection of fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels, and pastries. 13
  • For me as a globalist, it's the personal touches that I enjoy staying at a Hyatt. Being addressed by name or just saving a table at breakfast when I'm with my family on vacation goes a long way. 1
  • I had their complimentary breakfast, which was a small spread of tasty American classic breakfast foods. 3
  • As for Hyatt Place, there was no food yet at the hotel, but maybe there is now or will be by August. 15
  • I will say, at Hyatt House Frankfurt Eschborn in Germany, the free breakfast was German enough that this issue didn't apply. GREAT European coffee along with other local stuff that covered our needs with just enough foreign panache. 1
  • My main complaint about Hyatt Places is that their free breakfast is just adequate enough that I don't bother going out for better breakfast. 1
  • Royal Palms is small(er) and great for adults, and the restaurant is excellent, but it's not big resort pool quality. 6

  • I have had terrible bargain fails, staying in a nightmarish "award winning" Rodeway in Glendale, CA with burned out lights and no hot water! 1
  • HR restaurants are not really our thing. I usually find them disappointing, generic, and wildly overpriced. 1
  • My wife and I took our first trip to Phoenix/ Scottsdale last October and stayed at Hyatt Place North. It seemed newish, with reasonable rates at that time, nice and clean, and put us in a good location for the courses I played. 15

  • Hotel is far enough from old town etc - so I would suggest either waymo/lyft/uber combo to get around - off hours waymo ridiculously cheap or get a car - honestly not really anything walking distance. 5
  • For example HR downtown Chicago is a couple thousand rooms and they obviously can't fill the place up year round so it's only tier 3 but it's a great location and value and nicely kept up. 1
  • Hyatt Place is by far our go-to brand. They are located conveniently in decent safe neighborhoods near airports and interstate exits, serving us both for air travel and road trips. 1
  • Hello all, Just to wrap up, I just had my 1 night stay at the Hyatt Place. The location was great. 10
  • About a third of the time I have chosen HP because I want to get out extremely early next day for the airport or highway before breakfast has even started or I grab coffee and a banana on my way out. I still get free parking and the convenient location. 1
