The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas provides a central base with views of Camelback Mountain and on-site dining options ranging from a poolside bar to patio dinners. Guests praise the quiet rooms, comfortable beds, and proximity to local attractions. However, service is a persistent issue, marked by hit-and-miss housekeeping and complaints about outdated, non-refreshed rooms. 28412

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • Rooms remain extremely quiet and peaceful even when events are taking place around the resort. 14
  • Beds are very soft with fluffy pillows, and rooms include thoughtful touches like espresso coffee machines. 149
  • The location provides convenient access to Old Town shopping and dining, alongside views of Camelback Mountain. 8912

The catch

  • Some guests describe huge, beautifully decorated rooms, while others ended up in non-remodeled rooms that felt transported back to 1989. 414
  • While several guests found the staff very friendly and helpful, others experienced hit-and-miss housekeeping where trash and used glasses were left behind. 414

Who it's for

  • Guests prioritizing Camelback Mountain views
  • Travelers seeking quiet, spacious standard rooms
  • Visitors heading to local golf events or Old Town

Skip it if

  • Guests expecting fully refreshed rooms without vintage decor
  • Travelers requiring consistent daily housekeeping
  • Those looking for complimentary breakfast

  • The Scottsdale Resort and Spa is very conveniently located to A LOT of touristy things to do in Arizona - Old Scottsdale (which is a very popular place to shop and eat) is about 10 minutes away, downtown Phoenix is about 30 minutes away, Sedona is about 2 hours away, and the Grand Canyon is about 3 ½ hours away. 14
  • The people were nice, but we thought the resort and unit were mid-tier. Also in a good location. 1

  • The room was beautifully decorated and designed with lots of thoughtful touches to be found. 14
  • We got a pair along with some wine to take back to our room after dinner and it was the perfect sweet treat! We stayed in a 1 King Bed standard room - and it was huge. 14

  • The service and wine were both excellent as were the cookies for dessert. 4
  • We found the staff at the Scottsdale Resort and Spa very friendly and very helpful. From the moment we checked in, to our interactions as we got food, to whenever we had a question about trying to find the Social Boardroom - they were happy to help in any way. 14

  • Pronto is a bit of a joke for a hotel of this price. Same thing with housekeeping. Checked in and there was one coffee cup, never topped up coffee for the whole stay, so I had to call each day and ask, but did after that give us 2 cups??? Missed a day of housekeeping for no apparent reason. 4

Service22 mentions
  • The people were nice, but we thought the resort and unit were mid-tier. 1
  • The staff are not trained enough and nobody was on the same page with anything. 4
  • I just stayed at the Scottsdale Resort and Villas. The rooms were very nice and spacious. 7
  • inconsistent advice from staff was a constant problem at this hotel. We found the happy hours to be good at Luna for $15 pizza and Seven for $4 beer. Cocktails were not good though. 4
  • We are also diamond and booked with points. Our room has only been serviced one of three days. Have called for towels and waters and have waited over an hour for someone to bring those up. 4
  • We did have housekeeping banging down our door before 9:00 a.m. (before 8 in my time zone). They repeatedly rang the doorbell like a child would do or someone with a medical emergency. By the time I dressed and came to the door they were back at their vehicle and didn't even try to enter to clean. 4
  • One front desk employee, a woman in her 50s with blonde hair, seems competent. 4
  • The service and wine were both excellent as were the cookies for dessert. 4
  • Plus, it's where the teams always stay for the Fiesta Bowl so they must know something... It's not in Scottsdale, but the Wigwam is really nice. Nice hotels, great service, pools with cabanas rentals, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. 13
  • Room not ready until about an hour after check in... among many others in the lobby not ready. They were not ready to take on the busy period with the golf then Valentine's Day. 4
  • inconsistent advice from staff was a constant problem at this hotel. We found the happy hours to be good at Luna for $15 pizza and Seven for $4 beer. 4
  • Customer service felt like a secondary or tertiary concern behind the outfits that they were all wearing and whatever else they may have done to their appearance to elevate themselves above us as guests. 4
  • The room is nice and the open spaces are cool, so there's that, but the whole service thing needs a lot of improvement. 4
  • Housekeeping was hit and miss. Day one - a used (by us) washcloth was left in the shower. Trash and used glasses were not removed and toilet paper was not refreshed causing us to completely run out of TP on day 3. 4
  • It's not in Scottsdale, but the Wigwam is really nice. Nice hotels, great service, pools with cabanas rentals, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. 13
  • The front desk staff did get me checked in but I left feeling as though I had done or said something wrong when requesting a room with a bath. 4
  • Fortunately we had a car so the shuttle situation didn't impact us. We did have housekeeping banging down our door before 9:00 a.m. (before 8 in my time zone). They repeatedly rang the doorbell like a child would do or someone with a medical emergency. 4
  • We also had issues with the valet parking. I texted (as instructed) and got no reply. After 20 minutes I went to the front desk to inquire if I had done something wrong and was told they were short staffed. 4
  • The man with the turban also seems to spring into action when necessary and he remedied the situation immediately when we had been waiting for our car from valet for 20 minutes. 4
  • The villas are an annex so you have to request transportation at least one hour in advance. AND not between 5:45 AM - 6:15 AM because that is when they do a shift change. 4
  • We found the staff at the Scottsdale Resort and Spa very friendly and very helpful. From the moment we checked in, to our interactions as we got food, to whenever we had a question about trying to find the Social Boardroom - they were happy to help in any way. 14
  • Part way through we're told since we paid points we don't get the $15... inconsistent advice from staff was a constant problem at this hotel. 4

  • The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is about 20 minutes away (and just in case you're wondering, this resort does not offer a shuttle to or from the airport). 14
  • Not close to "Old Town," but a great location if you are going to the Waste Management Open. 1
  • Scottsdale Plaza is a bit older but both are centrally located. 13
  • The people were nice, but we thought the resort and unit were mid-tier. Also in a good location. 1

  • The room was beautifully decorated and designed with lots of thoughtful touches to be found. 14
  • e in a non remodeled/non updated/ non refreshed room. It was very bad. I was immediately transported back to 1989 upon entry of my room (no exaggeration in this sentence). 4
  • Upgraded my room due to a poster in the lobby talking about the villas being remodeled/updated/refreshed. They put me in a non remodeled/non updated/ non refreshed room. It was very bad. I was immediately transported back to 1989 upon entry of my room (no exaggeration in this sentence). 4
  • We got a pair along with some wine to take back to our room after dinner and it was the perfect sweet treat! We stayed in a 1 King Bed standard room - and it was huge. 14
  • And, despite quite a few events taking place around the resort, our room was extremely quiet and peaceful. We had two couches in our room and our TV was definitely one of the largest we've ever had in a hotel room! 14

  • The balcony is a great place that seats four, whether to share a meal or sip on morning coffee. There's also a walk-in closet perfect for storing luggage. I really liked the closet size, which made my Suite feel less like a hotel, where luggage ends up spread around the room. 11

  • The service and wine were both excellent as were the cookies for dessert. 4
  • In my opinion, the most luxurious boutique hotel is The Sanctuary on McDonald Drive. It is on the side of Camelback Mountain, with an exceptional view, plus an exquisite dining room commanded by master chef, Beau McMillan. 8
  • Guests appreciate the on-site dining and spa, and love lounging by the free-form swimming pool. 6
  • The food was insanely fresh, obviously cooked right then and there for us, and was SO good. 14
  • Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. This one has my nomination for best restaurant at a HIlton. 8
  • I would also love staying at Sanctuary in Paradise Valley. Elements is one of my favorite restaurants for our Anniversaries. 8
  • Another nice feature of the Suite was the separate dining room, allowing groups to have a "sit down" meal like at home. 11
  • The downstairs restaurant CBRE Kitchen in cocktails has a nice outdoor patio for these awesome winter days that we have it gets a little hot in the summer here On camera91:08
  • First of all it's more of a grab and go than a restaurant. You can order made to order items too, but they aren't good. We got 2 coffee drinks, the traditional breakfast and the frittata. 4
  • The main restaurant is called La Fogata Restaurant and it is beautiful. 14
  • I will note that if you are staying at the Scottsdale Resort and Spa and find yourself looking for a small dessert item or sweet treat - I HIGHLY recommend getting a cookie from Barnaby's. They had these big, delicious chocolate chip cookies for just $3 a piece - they'll even warm them up for you and they're SO good! 14
  • Luna was highly disappointing. The lemon spaghetti sauce was broken/grainy and the rest of the food was meh. 4
  • The balcony is a great place that seats four, whether to share a meal or sip on morning coffee. 11
  • The main restaurant is called La Fogata Restaurant and it is beautiful. We had dinner there out on the patio and the food was delicious. It was pricey, but I feel like that's to be expected at an upscale hotel restaurant. 14
  • I forgot to mention how underwhelming Pronto was. First of all it's more of a grab and go than a restaurant. You can order made to order items too, but they aren't good. 4
  • Out of these two, I'd have to say Scottsdale Plaza. Big property. Very spread out. Not like a hotel. Great restaurant on property and several more across the street. 13
  • Outside of the main sit-down restaurant, there is the poolside bar called Twisted Vine - this is where we had lunch. The menu is lighter and more what you'd expect from a poolside bar (sandwiches, tacos, salads) but it was still really fresh and delicious. 14
  • I just stayed at the Scottsdale Resort and Villas. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The food is good. 7
  • Reply Share Circa-Survivalist • 2y ago No, no spa as it's not a "resort" style hotel unfortunately. It does however have an excellent restaurant and rooftop pool/bar/restaurant that has great food/views. 4
  • The Scottsdale Resort and Spa does not offer a complimentary breakfast, but there are plenty of food options on property. 14

  • The bathroom boasted a beautifully tiled, walk-in shower, but upon closer examination, it did have some mold in the corners and corrosion on the shower heads. I know this is almost unavoidable at hotels, but still, it was slightly disappointing considering that this is a AAA Four-Diamond Resort that just went through a major renovation and upgrade. 14

  • The counterspace in the bathroom was adequate for two people and there was a small, lighted mirror for doing makeup - but this space would get very small, very fast if say, a few girls were getting ready for a wedding in here. 14
