The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

The hotel provides an ultra-convenient base directly above the train station and connected to Frankfurt Airport terminals via an enclosed walkway. Guests appreciate the exceptionally quiet environment and comfortable beds for resting before early flights. However, reviewers frequently note that rooms feel cramped and mention issues with cold air conditioning and compact shower-tub bathrooms. 156918

What travelers noticed

  • The location inside The Squaire receives widespread praise for offering an easy walk to airport terminals and downstairs access to trains and a REWE supermarket. 1969
  • Guests consistently report a dead silent atmosphere at night paired with comfortable beds and pillows. 17
  • The breakfast buffet is well-received, especially for offering barista-made espresso drinks. 19
  • Front desk staff provide fast, efficient check-in for arriving travelers. 12193

The catch

  • Room views are divisive; some guests appreciate spotting planes behind the terminal or viewing the modern atrium lobby, while others find their view occluded by The Squaire or the nearby Sheraton. 12
  • Opinions on value vary, with some travelers finding rates reasonable for the terminal connection while others consider the cost high for compact rooms. drawn from the full read

  • Both, Hilton Hotel and Hilton Garden Inn are located in a perfect place - just next to one of the biggest airports in the world and next to the train station. 12
  • Or, is there another option? There are two Marriott properties hooked onto the airport in-between the airport terminal and train station. I have stayed there a couple times the last few years and it is so convenient; very easy to walk; all covered without going outside. I would highly recommend it. 6

  • It's also worth noting that this is a very quiet property. I went to bed at 7 PM due to being overwhelmed by jet leg (and the need to wake up at 4 AM the next morning), and it was dead silent the entire time. 17
  • Within about a 10 minute walk you are inside Frankfurt airport. We just stayed in the Hyatt Place Gateway Garden. One stop on the train from the airport. Right across the street from the train entrance. Very nice, quiet and comfortable 9

  • The price point: At 170 euros ($173) for a one-night Deluxe King room stay in the first week of June, the price was well worth the experience. 3
  • The Sheraton tends to be priced much lower than the Marriott -- often 100 euros ($101) less per night -- but shares the same location and amenities. If you can forgo a newer, fresher room, then this hotel is a great value. 3

Food16 mentions
  • The buffet's vast selection of breakfast breads, cold cuts, pancakes, sausages and yogurts should have options for every appetite. 3
  • Dining and drinking: The Sheraton shares a lobby with the Marriott, along with the Eatery. Its signature burger is a sizzling patty placed on a tasty sourdough roll with a bowl of crispy fries. 3
  • I also enjoyed the breakfast at the HGI which was free with Diamond or Gold status. 19
  • The Restaurant is closed at the moment for lunch and dinner (this is described as all-day dining on its website but with its hours listed as 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.). 3
  • Guests can partake of breakfast at the Sheraton, including a copious selection of rolls, assorted sausages and a crowd favorite, chocolate museli, though expect a hefty bill of 32 euros ($33) per person if you don't get free breakfast through elite status. 3
  • Feel it is getting slightly tired but for a short stay, it's fine. Breakfast selection was very very good indeed. 19
  • There was both drip coffee, as well as machines with cappuccinos, espressos, etc. It was also possible to order custom made eggs, so that's a nice feature. 19
  • During the breakfast, I had an impression that there is a no such an excellent choice (I would say that it had a standard and usual choice of dishes), but everything that you need even famous Hilton's waffles. 12
  • - breakfast should be more varied with a better choice of dishes 12
  • For what's ostensibly a limited service hotel, the breakfast buffet was excellent. 19
  • The second really good thing about the location, downstairs you can get trains to anywhere in Europe and there is a fantastic array of restaurants and shops including a REWE Supermarket if you need any fresh food or to top up your toiletries. 19
  • Lobby restaurant and bar was acceptable but not great. 18
  • Food and beverage options at this property are pricey and limited, but many other options abound just outside the front door. 3
  • I stayed at the Hilton hotel a few years ago. It's about a 10 minute walk from the terminal via an enclosed walkway. Nice upgraded room and breakfast. 6
  • Like the rest of the property, the restaurant feels a bit outdated, but does the trick. 19
  • What I really enjoyed were cakes that you can find at the breakfast buffet. If you prefer to have a coffee and a sweet cake for your breakfast, you won't be disappointed. 12
Bathroom10 mentions · 1 filmed
  • My bathroom was pretty small, but very well maintained. 12
  • Sparse by comparison, the almost clinical (and glaringly lit) bathrooms wouldn't look out of place in a hospital ward and have hard-to-navigate shower-tub combos, though the (somewhat confusing) mix of Le Grand Bain and Acca Kappa bath products are an overall plus. 3
  • What I didn't like about my bathroom was the curtain that separates the bathtub from the rest of the space. In nowadays trends, hotels are not using this kind of solution anymore. 12
  • Bathrooms are spacious and include both a soaking tub with tiled backsplash and a separate walk-in shower stocked with fragrant Crabtree & Evelyn products. 3
  • The gray-tiled bathroom lay somewhere between institutional and oasis-like with a basin-style sink, a backlit vanity and half-glassed-in shower whose steady water pressure made sudsing up with the provided thisworks products a refreshing experience. 3
  • A nice modern shower however you had to stand in it in order to turn it on thus ensuring you would be hit with cold water. 18
  • 2 things you didn't mention. One being the water pressure in the shower. Wow, Fantastic. A proper shower, full-blown pressure. 19
  • The bathrooms are more compact than at the Hilton, with shower-tub combinations rather than separate installations (though you can still enjoy the same Crabtree & Evelyn products). 3
  • The bathroom was nice and had Neutrogena amenities, which were different from the standard Peter Thomas Roth stuff. 2
  • the bathtub now it's a pretty sufficiently deep bathtub as you can see when I stick my arm in here it's almost all the way up all the way up past my up to my armpit so pretty deep bathtub there very relaxing On camera80:40

  • The large windows let in plenty of natural lighting but unfortunately, did not provide any views of the ramp or runway. However, the soundproof windows were great in limiting outside noise and the blackout curtains were effective in blocking out the daylight. 5
  • The hotel is nice and quiet for an airport hotel. 7
  • The room faced the outside roadway of the airport, and the soundproofing in the room was quite good. 19
Location16 mentions
  • I have stayed at the Sheraton and the Hilton Garden Inn that are at the airport/train station. Both are extremely convenient, clean and close to eating places at/near the train station. 9
  • The third full-service property, the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel & Conference Center, is co-located with the Marriott and also is very convenient, though its dark, dated design and sterile bathrooms leave a bit to be desired. 3
  • Find day use rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport, ideally situated right above Frankfurt Airport Train Station and seamlessly connected to Terminal 1 via skywalk. 15
  • The hotel was conveniently located next to the airport and the room was clean, modern and comfortable. 5
  • Both, Hilton Hotel and Hilton Garden Inn are located in a perfect place - just next to one of the biggest airports in the world and next to the train station. 12

I have stayed there a couple times the last few years and it is so convenient; very easy to walk; all covered without going outside. I would highly recommend it. 6
  • The Frankfurt Airport Marriott has an unbeatable location and is the newest of the hotels; a beautiful, spotless property with a thoughtful design. 3
  • Whatever you do, DONT book the Holiday Inn Frankfurt Airport because it is NOT at the airport - it is about 11 kilometers from the airport. I made that mistake 9
  • The Hilton Frankfurt Airport is a farther walk from the terminal, but also a winner, with nice-enough design and highly functional rooms. 3
  • The nice thing is that this hotel is located adjacent to terminal 1, which was super convenient considering it was the same one I had just flown into. 17
  • The decor was straightforward but with little quirks, like quotes by Goethe (a Frankfurt native) on the walls, and the industrial nature of the design felt like a deliberate allusion to the nearby airport. 3
  • Another vote for the Hilton Garden Inn right in the Frankfurt airport. We've stayed there 3 or 4 times. Very nice and convenient to the terminals. 9
  • Ouch, the Sheraton is about $650 USD a night for 3 people. The Hilton is not much less. We won't be staying at the airport, lol. 9
  • + very close to the airport! You can quickly get to the Terminal 1 12
  • Thank you! There is a Sheraton and Marriott Hotel actually IN the airport. It's all very convenient, you just walk to your gate. 9
  • Safe travels! We have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Frankfurt airport multiple times. Easily walkable. It works well for us the night before a flight back to the US 6

  • As far as a nice hotel goes in Frankfurt: Hilton Frankfurt City Centre is the best one. It's right by the heart of the (good) city centre, facilities are nice and modern. 16
  • + very helpful and friendly Front Desk staff 12
  • Front Office team is helpful, friendly and hospitable. 12
  • Hilton Frankfurt City Centre is the best one. It's right by the heart of the (good) city centre, facilities are nice and modern. 16
  • Though the hotel shares some common public areas with the Sheraton around the corner, it still felt individualistic and approachable, and the staff was accommodating enough to enable an early check-in. 3
  • I misplaced my passport, and the staff at the Hilton Garden was so helpful and understanding in helping me find it. 19
  • The check-in process was extremely efficient. There was no mention of my Diamond elite status at all, and I had to specifically ask about breakfast, premium Wi-Fi, etc. 19
  • What We Like for a Day Pass at the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport:- Self-parking (surcharge)- Express check-out- Luggage storage- Highly rated, helpful staff 15
  • DoubleTree Niederrad is nice, but a bit off the city. Need a train to get to the city centre. 16

  • The office chairs felt like Staples castoffs, while solid wooden desks and bed frames aren't quite offset by the dim accent lighting. 3
  • The rooms were well-sized, maybe slightly bigger than the typical European hotel room, and in great condition. 2
  • A decent-size desk was excellent for getting some work done during a layover and the in-room Krups espresso machine with complimentary coffee pods and accompaniments can be a jetlag-busting lifesaver. 3
  • Next to my bed, there were two outlets but only on one side of the bed. Nowadays for some of the travelers, it might be kind of trouble if they want to charge their phones and have an easy access to them. 12
  • The Hilton Honors rate was $89/night for a standard king room, which I thought was very reasonable. 5
  • I also had a beautiful view from my room - the perfect one for plane spotters! Just behind the terminal, you could see airplanes. 12
  • The room was nice, clean and updated with a few design issues. 18
  • The decor felt a bit outdated, and on top of that, there was also quite a bit of wear and tear in the room. 19
  • either way the mini bar as you can see well stocked with stuff so very cool very organized and you got a little bit of extra shelving space here in case the rest was not enough for you On camera82:24
  • The large glass desks feel outdated at this point, but provided plenty of room to work, with a flatscreen TV mounted right above. 3
  • The decor is somewhat bland and the in-room amenities are fine, if unremarkable. 3
  • My room had an airport view and it was actually disappointing. The large windows let in plenty of natural lighting but unfortunately, did not provide any views of the ramp or runway. 5
  • The work desk was fairly standard but the ergonomic chair was much appreciated. 5
  • I stayed at the Hilton hotel a few years ago. It's about a 10 minute walk from the terminal via an enclosed walkway. Nice upgraded room and breakfast. 6
  • In my opinion, the design of my room was very good although the hotel is already 7 years old. 12
  • Standard rooms live up to that categorization, measuring approximately 291 square feet with standard, if quickly aging accouterments like king-size beds with blonde wood frames, woven fabric headboards and well-worn white linens. 3
  • I found the room to be quite stylish and very comfortable overall, but for the love of God, I wished they would have turned the air conditioning down just a little bit. 17

  • But the Hilton eating choices seemed uber-expensive for our tastes -- instead, we went to the grocery store in the airport complex and had a simple half-chicken with potatoes for KFC prices. 13
  • The 34 euro ($35) breakfast buffet was both expensive and extensive - a good value for those with Hilton Gold status and above, who receive a food and beverage credit as part of their elite perks, and a pricey splurge for everyone else. 3
  • The rate for a queen room was 151 euros ($154) with a Hilton Honors discount, or 27,000-50,000 points per night, which is not expensive, but perhaps not merited by the amenities and accommodations on offer. 3
  • I appreciate the detailed review of an accessible and affordable airport hotel. I've stayed there several times prior to or after international flights. I found it a reasonable value. 19
  • Jo will suggest a downtown Frankfurt hotel and a very quick train ride to the airport.) We walk to United gates. We have picked up to-go roast chicken plus snacks and sodas from the grocery store near the hotel and had relaxing last dinner -- much better than the overpriced hotel restaurants! 7
  • I think 3.5 stars is pretty generous here. €160 is no value for an airport hotel in Europe; especially one as tired as this. 19
  • I used the opportunity to try the Hilton at the Frankfurt Airport. It was stylish, very quiet, and in a very convenient location. Yeah - I think it was totally worth the high(ish) price that I paid for it. 17
