The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Hilton Austin is a central downtown property convenient for visits to the Texas State Capitol and convention events. Guests appreciate the comfortable gel memory foam beds, fast complimentary Wi-Fi, and eighth-floor rooftop pool deck. However, ambient street noise and nearby fire station sirens frequently disrupt sleep, and the room decor can feel staid and bland. 11617

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • The eighth-floor rooftop pool and bar area provides beautiful skyline views above the city. 610
  • Beds deliver quality rest with gel memory foam mattresses and a choice of soft plush or firm pillows. 1
  • Valet service operates efficiently, using the Flash Valet texting system to get cars ready within five minutes. 1
  • Bathrooms feature light-brown tiling with rainfall showerheads and Peter Thomas Roth bath products. 3

The catch

  • While some guests praise impressive skyline views from higher floors and balconies, others receive uninspiring views overlooking outdoor clubs on 6th Street. 1265
  • Room decor with two-tone wood furniture and white granite countertops struck some as modern, while others found the aesthetic bland and staid. 3
  • The on-site restaurant earns praise for tasty flatbreads and breakfast hash, but some reviewers felt standard fare like the 24-dollar breakfast buffet was overpriced. 6

Who it's for

  • Business trips near the Capitol
  • Guests prioritizing comfortable beds and rooftop pool views
  • Travelers wanting swift valet and central access

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers sensitive to street sirens and ambient city noise
  • Travelers seeking stylish or distinctive room decor
  • Budget diners wanting to avoid pricey breakfast buffets

  • This was my first time visiting Dallas, and I was specifically searching for a pet-friendly hotel that was located right in downtown, reasonably priced, and within walking distance to the AT&T Discovery District. Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas Downtown checked all of those boxes perfectly! 1
  • The Canopy Austin is located in a very lively neighbourhood: West 6th Market District. It is an excellent location that comes to life in the evenings - you can literally walk out of the hotel and choose from any number of places to drink and eat. 12

  • Our 356 sq. ft. room was cozy, comfortable, and functional. The contemporary design of the bed's wooden headboard was gorgeous and it had a bit of a traditional Japanese element to it. 1
  • The Texas sunshine flooded the room with natural light, which I loved. 12

  • Flash Valet immediately replies with an estimated time of when your vehicle will be ready. We used this texting system multiple times throughout our stay and each time, we had our car ready within 5 minutes. We were pretty impressed with how fast they were able to grab our car. 1
  • Check in was quick and easy. 12

  • IMHO, the Hilton here at the Austin Bergstrom Airport is a pretty good value if you can nab a room at a decent price. It's far from being luxurious (or even unique for that matter), but it's proximity to the airport makes it a very compelling option if that is your primary goal. 14

  • Both the breakfast buffet and hamburger were good, but were they $24 good? No, they were not. 10
  • ON-SITE RESTAURANT - VERBENA We had dinner on our first night at Verbena and it did not disappoint. We had dinner on our first night at Verbena and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was gorgeous and the service was prompt and friendly. 1
  • Meanwhile, the fare at the Hilton's on-site restaurant earns a big thumbs-up. 6
  • It's got a nice little classic look here with the elevators. There is a restaurant bar. It has limited hours, but it is sort of a nice option if you just stay here in the hotel versus having to venture out. 13
  • I went for the breakfast hash, which was fantastic: 12
Bathroom8 mentions
  • All come with a generous supply of high-end Peter Thomas Roth bath products. 3
  • The sink was spacious so we had plenty of room to place our toiletries. 1
  • The bathroom was spacious and we were surprised that the light was motion censored. This is so helpful especially at night when you can't find the darn light switch. 1
  • Bathrooms are just average in size, but feature handsome, light-brown tiling around the shower/tub combos that have rainfall showerheads. 3
  • Oddly, the Nespresso machine was located in a spot where the outlet was not working, so we had to move the machine over to the bathroom sink's outlet to use it. 1
  • What can I say about the bathroom? Yes, it's very similar to the bathroom you saw in my Hilton Logan Airport review. That isn't very much of a compliment though. 14
  • The bathroom was small but the shower had good water pressure. 10
  • The shower was spacious and the water pressure was average. The shower had difficulty draining water but other than that, it worked great. 1
Room7 mentions
  • Guest rooms have modern decor that features upscale touches like white granite countertops on designer-quality, two-tone wood furniture, but the overall look is a bit staid. 3
  • Our 356 sq. ft. room was cozy, comfortable, and functional. The contemporary design of the bed's wooden headboard was gorgeous and it had a bit of a traditional Japanese element to it. 1
  • Imagine my disappointment when I walked into the room and found something even more bland than the room that I had at the Knoxville Airport Hilton. This is a circular building for crying out loud! 14
  • Unfortunately, the interior of this magnificent building didn't quite match the exterior. Sure, it looked like a giant spaceship from the inside, but the decor was cookie-cutter "airport Hilton" and to be honest it was so generic that it could've been a Marriott or a Courtyard Inn for all I knew. 14
  • Decor in its contemporary guest rooms is a tad ho-hum, but amenities are a plus, with coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and upscale Peter Thomas Roth bath products. 3
  • The Texas sunshine flooded the room with natural light, which I loved. 12
  • Good size closet to store your your clothes. Kind of gives you a sense of the capacity of the closet. 13

  • Whether you're in Austin, Texas, for business or leisure, Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown's central location makes it a perfect home base (if you're willing to tolerate some city noise). 5
  • All in all, my Hilton Austin hotel review is that it was a pleasant stay, though it's disappointing that the executive lounge is still closed. It is conveniently located if you are attending a convention, but as usual, I don't prefer "nice" hotels. 10
  • A detailed review of our two-night stay at Hotel Indigo Waco. It is conveniently located within walking distance of Magnolia Market at the Silos and it is pet-friendly. 1
  • The Westin downtown is fantastic and in a better location. Same with The W and JW. 7
  • Stayed here a few times back in my old life when I had a client in Austin. It's a decent airport hotel, though the main reason for staying here was that it was a ton cheaper than downtown hotels (and it was a shorter drive back from Lockhart when I'd make a BBQ run after work). 15
  • The Canopy Austin is located in a very lively neighbourhood: West 6th Market District. It is an excellent location that comes to life in the evenings - you can literally walk out of the hotel and choose from any number of places to drink and eat. 12
  • The downtown hotel is a smart base for business at the Texas State Capitol and future events at the Austin Convention Center, currently being rebuilt for an early-2029 reopening. 11

  • Check in was quick and easy. 12
  • I mean I understand that hotels are cutting housekeeping as a cost-saving measure, and that's fine. I generally decline housekeeping anyways because I don't like tipping and I don't need someone to come in and make my bed every day. But to take something away and then TELL ME IT'S FOR MY OWN COMFORT is a bit galling. 10
  • The front desk was warm and inviting and we had a little issue upon check-in. 1
  • They provided plenty of towels and basic toiletries. We weren't a big fan of their toiletries as it was extremely difficult to squeeze the product out of bottles. 1
  • Kind of gives you a sense of the capacity of the closet. There's the bathroom, which has been updated recently, which is nice. On camera132:14
  • Unfortunately, this request was not noted as promised, so we had to again explain the situation at check-in. Luckily, there were still rooms available to revert back to our initial booking, and the on-site staff was very helpful and resolved the issue. 1
View2 mentions
  • The view isn't spectacular - just over 6th Street for me and overlooking an outdoor club: 12
  • I asked for a room with a river view but they said "ooh suerie" and instead gave me a north-facing room with an uninspiring city view (pictured above). 10

  • So, here's the hallway outside my room. A little dated, hasn't been updated in a while. It's kind of a little too dark for my preference, but still clean. On camera130:54
  • Since the hotel is located in a lively part of downtown Austin, the noise level can be distracting at night. We requested a room away from the street to avoid the noise, so our room was facing the adjacent parking garage. This limited the noise; however, we did still hear some muffled noises through the night. 1
  • Depending on room location, ambient noise can be heard from the busy streets. 3
  • Though some warn of late night noise from the bars and clubs nearby, most guests enjoyed their time at this Hilton property. 6
  • Sitting near two of Austin's favorite entertainment spots - Esther's Follies and Emo's - the Hilton Austin is popular among visitors looking to immerse themselves in the city's live music culture. It's also convenient for sightseers looking to visit the State Capitol or families hoping to witness the Austin Bats. 6
