Read it your way

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Austin delivers clean, functional accommodations with comfortable beds and helpful perks like a free shuttle. On-site conveniences include an American restaurant buffet, a bar, and a jazz club. However, noise is a recurring problem, driven by loud motion-sensor AC units, nearby clubs, and loud echoes in rooms facing the pool. 57

  • The beds are functionally the same, you get a sink, a bath, DT has a better tv, while quality inn has more plugs for my phone and a desk lamp, etc etc. 7
  • The bathroom layout is odd in that the counter and sink are in the bedroom, not bathroom. 7

View1 mention
  • We live just an hour outside austin and often spend the night in town for events, mini getaways, etc. We recently stayed at the doubletree suites on 15th and really liked it. Its right next to the capitol building, and the corner rooms with a view of the Capitol building are awesome. 3
Service9 mentions
  • Outrageous_Juice455 • 8 buwan ang nakalipas There is one in Blue Ash, OH. There is one in Blue Ash, OH. I stay there frequently. Old school DoubleTree with a top-notch, friendly staff. 5
  • I mean there's a bar, the staff seems a little more seasoned and professional, and the building seems a little better maintained, but I'm paying double just for the room what I could pay for a quality inn, even without my friends and family discount. 7
  • Shitty hotel- last time (12/24), had to keep begging to even get towels, never mind the nightmare to try to get the room cleaned. 3
  • colton house is nice, but far from things. 3
  • (Literally, one day, after my complaints, housekeeping only came by and removed all the towels- so I was left with not a single one...didn't even take out the trash.) 3
  • The hotel is quite nice and very clean, however I found the hotel a little small for those in chairs and those in power chairs will have a hard time maneuvering. 1
  • Hard to rate. Staff friendly. Rooms clean and big enough. 7
  • I stayed at the Canopy this week and thought it was fantastic. Great service, excellent breakfast, comfortable & modern rooms 3
  • Had to have discussions with the front desk repeatedly and nothing was done. 3
Room5 mentions
  • Yea my wife and I stayed at a cambria, and its basically what you said, maybe a step down, and business otiented. But everything was fancy and we got upgraded to their best room, ritzy bar, good food, felt hoppin. 7
  • The hotel has king bedroom suites with pull down urban beds in the living room for affordable prices. 5
  • My bed was very comfy and will be the same bed for those that stay in an accessible room. 1
  • My hotel room, a two bedroom suite, was quite nice and very spacious. 1
  • The room is pretty much the exact same, except most of the Choice hotels I've stayed at have a microwave, and a desk lamp. DT has neither. 7
Location4 mentions
  • colton house is nice, but far from things. we went for usgp last year and austin hilton was perfect location for that. pretty standard hilton hotel as far as everything goes, but good location and amenities 3
  • Embassy Suites, just south of the Congress Street bridge. Great location. 3
  • Outside of taxis being at a premium, the hotel has the best location for any downtown hotel and is less congested than areas around the university. 1
  • Colton House is an SLH/the only boutique Hilton in the city, but it's also fairly standard and not very walkable. 3
Food10 mentions
  • Hilton and Marriott also have "all suites" branded properties. There's one in Mt Laurel NJ. Just stayed there. 10/10 breakfast if you're on the area 5
  • That adds ups quickly. They also charge for breakfast! I'm surprised they don't nickel and dime you more with an attendant at the pool selling swimming tickets, charge for ice and god help you if you want clean towels. 7
  • Choice also has free breakfast, while had to pay $25 for the same exact thing this morning. 7
  • And you had a host that you were expected to tip for saying "sit anywhere you want" and "how's the food you got from the buffet," I mean the guy was super nice and hard working and I was happy to tip him like 40%, cuz of all the crap he was taking from the other customers (one guy walked out cuz they wouldn't make him a personalized egg white omelet). 7
  • According to their website their rooms don't offer a microwave, but if you pay a higher rate items can be brought to the room. $25 for breakfast seems pretty steep. 7

Noise2 mentions
  • While I enjoyed my stay overall, the AC was driving me crazy. A motions sensor system that could not be turned off with the loudest AC unit I have ever seen. 5
  • Half of the hotel faces out to the large pool area which can be so noisy from daylight until after ten. Those facing the pool, all, will never know quite. The design causes a huge echo and you can hear everything, every conversation, every child scream. 7
Bathroom2 mentions
  • The beds are functionally the same, you get a sink, a bath, DT has a better tv, while quality inn has more plugs for my phone and a desk lamp, etc etc. 7
  • The bathroom layout is odd in that the counter and sink are in the bedroom, not bathroom. 7
