The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

This Chevy Chase property offers generous two-room suites situated directly above the Friendship Heights Metro station. Guests consistently appreciate the friendly customer service and the complimentary breakfast with made-to-order omelets. However, noise from crowds and tour groups gathering in the large central atrium frequently carries up to the rooms, and visitors note occasional housekeeping and maintenance oversights. 319718

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • Every room is configured as a spacious two-room suite, giving guests plenty of extra living space. 1674
  • The Friendship Heights Metro station is conveniently situated right inside the hotel building for easy travel around the area. 18133
  • Guests regularly highlight the complimentary breakfast, especially the busy chef station serving made-to-order eggs and custom omelettes. 13107
  • The front desk staff and team at Willie's Bar consistently earn praise for friendly and helpful service. 10

The catch

  • While some guests found the mattresses comfortable and fabulous, others struggled with worn-out mattresses that tilted to the side and uncomfortable sofa beds. 2014
  • Some reviewers appreciated modern bathroom sinks with plenty of towels, whereas others experienced daily towel shortages and bathroom doors that lacked functional locks. 174
  • Many guests enjoyed the complimentary morning spread, but some found the breakfast area overcrowded and chaotic during peak hours. 7

  • Metro riders wanting direct transit access
  • Travelers who prioritize cooked-to-order breakfasts

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers sensitive to open atrium noise
  • Travelers seeking scenic city views

  • Staff: I'll give the staff their own spot too because we found them to be exceptional. Try as hard as we might, we still seem to leave a hurricane of destruction in our wake. Even with our best efforts, something spills, someone trips, a tray falls. It's not pretty. But the staff was gracious with us and all our catastrophes. 17

Food11 mentions · 2 filmed
  • Free 2 drinks per guest at the daily happy hour plus a great omelette at breakfast. 13
  • I did the Embassy back in July this year - pretty typical for the brand, but breakfast was way overcrowded with kids and families and was subpar because it couldn't handle the volume, IMO. 16
  • Willie's Bar: I think that my mention above makes it clear how I feel about this restaurant. It's great. The food's certainly fine. The staff is amazing. 17
  • Willie's Bar: I think that my mention above makes it clear how I feel about this restaurant. It's great. The food's certainly fine. 17
  • Some of the other options on the District Tap's all-day menu include chicken tacos with a choice of corn or flour tortillas for $17.95 or the jambalaya pasta for $23.95. For those prices, you'd be better off exploring some of the city's varied restaurant scene beyond the hotel walls. 20
  • I enjoyed the breakfast complimentary for all GRS I love the fact that they do the cook to order stuff the omelets the eggs whatever you want even fofy things like avocado toast on selection here On camera78:47
  • Discover RANGE by Top Chef Bryan Voltaggio, or visit the Civil Lounge, the area's only true cigar lounge with a combination of fine cigars, excellent food, and an unmatched atmosphere. 18
  • so this one actually had a made to order omelette station which was really a treat every morning to come out to and they also have all the other stuff the Shaving dishes with the you know scrambled eggs and the sausage and bacon and all that and all you get Lexi coffee she's a happy girl she's a different lady I just say so yeah good breakfast recommend it On camera102:46
  • Willie's Bar: I think that my mention above makes it clear how I feel about this restaurant. It's great. 17
  • Breakfast includes eggs made to order like a custom omelette which is always fresh. 13
  • Emily, an avid coffee drinker, commented that the weak coffee left much to be desired, so we headed to a nearby cafe after breakfast to get her her caffeine fix. 20

  • Not a bad room. Much better than the last one. I like it. On camera151:06
  • My only complaint was our room was in a corner and we had a view of a brick wall 😅 We were only in the room at night so it wasn't a huge deal, but over all we had a nice stay. 16
  • So next to the desk you have a fairly good size TV. On camera43:34
  • They got goldfish. These potato chips are actually pretty good. They look like Lays, but they're kettle. On camera411:44

  • room window It has windows in the hallway. It has windows in the hallway. That's crazy. That is so unique. 4
  • Next up, you have your double beds. Now, as we mentioned, this is a two double bed room. It's not a queen-size bed, these are double-size beds. And they look good, they look comfortable enough. 4
  • first great thing about this hotel is the rooms are huge every room is a two room suite there's no tiny rooms here so you don't have to worry about getting shoved into a little corner thing there aren't any they're all big On camera78:06
  • Always like having microwave because it is very handy if you bring in some leftover food, you can heat it up and it's nice to have it in the room. On camera44:56
  • Spacious two-room suites offer guests additional privacy and comfort with a separate living room from the bedroom. 20
  • The room is pretty big, so I am already excited about this tour. On camera42:33
  • So, this is your living space, really nice, wide open, massive, massive sofa. Yeah. That is great. On camera43:52
  • Suites: Need I say more? I've got a room to stay awake in and sleep in that's not the same one my little people are in. Perfection. Perfection made better by the fact that the desk was on wheels so we could move it around and then use it as a dining table or lego building table when necessary. 17
  • While checking out the living room, I removed the sofa cushions to see if there was a bed. I found crumbs, a red jelly bean and a goldfish cracker. I had assumed the sofa bed was clean since there was a top sheet, but pulling it out revealed cream-colored stains on the linens. 20
  • Over here we have a closet. Door's a little tricky, so just got to yank on it. 14
  • The magenta armchair didn't match the rest of the furniture but was comfortable. 20
  • The large window that had to remain shut, making the hotel room feel dark and basement-like even at the sunniest times of day. 17
  • I wish the windows actually opened they don't open like at all so you can't get any fresh air into the room On camera711:42
  • The suite itself was very nice though, so if you want the extra space that might cinch it. 16
  • e turn on and off as it cooled which occasionally when the fan would turn off the room would get stuffy but it wasn't so stuffy that it stopped me from sleeping and I was here in the summer in DC which is pretty hot and the air conditioning kept up pretty well 7
  • Little storage section there on the wall. We look out this window. Windows are a little bit dirty, but again, downtown views. 14

  • The bed was uncomfortable due to the worn-out mattress causing it to tilt toward the left. I had to keep shifting my position throughout the night to try and stay on it. 20
