Its primary appeal lies in substantial meal perks, featuring a free breakfast and evening happy hour that functions as dinner. However, serious service and maintenance inconsistencies reliably frustrate guests, ranging from billing disputes and dismissive staff to stained rooms. 14258

  • Embassy Suites Downtown - This is my favorite hotel in AMA, but it's only a year old, and they're still working out minor kinks on occasional stays. You can't beat the amazing free cooked-to-order breakfast (tell Steve hello!) and free drinks every weekday evening. 8
  • Though work pays for meals, I get excited about the Kickbacks when I know I'm staying at a Drury property and book them intentionally when available. 14

Location

  • Quite modern and a layout unlike traditional Embassy Suites hotels, the location is right downtown, a couple blocks from tons of great eats and whatever nightlife AMA has to offer. 8
  • Decent breakfast and the location is pretty good, because it's right on the loop and I-40, so you can get on a highway to wherever you want immediately. 8

  • I've only stayed in Amarillo overnight once. It was at the Country Inn and Suites on the far west side of town, and I felt it was very safe. Despite being close to I-40 it was a pretty quiet area, and the hotel itself was nice as well. 9
  • The reason I didn't dig it as much is that the walls seemed a little thin and I could hear the neighbors somewhat easily (maybe they were just coincidentally loud people?). 8

Room

  • The furniture and bed were a little firm for my liking, but it was brand new when I stayed. 8

Service

  • Stayed at many hotels in Amarillo and Drury is our fav. Clean, comfortable, accommodating. 2
  • I've stayed at the Drury Inn & Suites a couple of times when we were at fencing competitions in Amarillo, and would definitely stay there again. It's not the cheapest option, but it was clean and very safe and the staff were great. 9

Service11 mentions
  • Recent guests said their rooms were clean and comfortable, and they also complimented this hotel's service staff. 6
  • I recommend you learn from my mistake ..choose somewhere else to stay. It's a horror story of poor accomodations, poor service and lower than economy standards. 5
  • Eventually, the front desk clerk slowly strolled toward the front desk, and you would expect her to quickly open the door, but no, she decided to rudely yell at us, do you have a reservation? 5
  • None, not a single one if my CUSTOMER SERVICE complaints were ever addressed. 5

  • Home2Suites - This is probably my next favorite place. Very consistent and super friendly. 8
  • Miss REMOVEDSt REMOVEDthinks she is too big and mighty and powerful to have to deal with such nonsense. She has no business in customer service. 5
  • To their credit, the hotel did refund our one-night stay. However, what was most concerning was the lack of acknowledgment or meaningful response to the safety and cleanliness issues when escalated beyond the property level. 5
Food12 mentions
  • What makes it a great value is all the included food. Specifically the free dinner and 3 free alcoholic drinks for each adult. 12
  • Decent breakfast and the location is pretty good, because it's right on the loop and I-40, so you can get on a highway to wherever you want immediately. 8
  • The first time we stayed in one, we were stranded with car trouble, and they went above and beyond. We tend to eat lightly in the evening when traveling anyhow, so their evening buffet supplemented with the healthier snacks we generally have on hand works really well for us. 10
