The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown offers a convenient, walkable base for business meetings and city exploration. Guests consistently praise the comfortable beds and the convenience of an onsite restaurant and bar for morning breakfast. However, travelers note frustrating quirks like slow elevators, noisy rooms when windows are open to the highway, and coffee not being set up until 6:30 a.m. 121713

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • Guests appreciate the central location, noting that everything is walkable including nearby spots like Coors Field and Ball Arena. 17
  • The beds feature comfortable mattresses that make it easy to sink in after finishing meetings or exploring the city. 131
  • The onsite restaurant and bar provides a convenient option for a delicious breakfast before heading out. 131012

The catch

  • While some guests find the squishy pillows great, others complain that the pillows are very thin. 81
  • Some describe the rooms as spacious and thoughtfully designed, while others note issues like dirty chairs and dim living room lamps. 13

Who it's for

  • Walkable downtown sightseeing
  • Business travelers with nearby meetings
  • Visits to Ball Arena and Coors Field

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers sensitive to highway noise
  • Early risers needing coffee before 6:30 a.m.
  • Guests who get impatient with slow elevators

  • Then, the bathroom had the biggest hodgepodge of toiletries I've seen. There was shampoo, conditioner and shaving cream by Sheraton's signature Le Grand Bain, another bottle of shampoo from BeeKind, Pure by Gloss body lotion and a Gilchrist & Soames-branded bar of soap. 15

  • I was upgraded to a one-bedroom executive corner suite, but the decor was similar to the standard rooms. Like the lobby, it was bright and inviting with modern finishes and warm tones. While not as vibrant as some of Marriott's newer brands, the room had a lot more color than the bleak, beige, cookie-cutter Sheratons I was accustomed to. 15
  • Room was small but well appointed. 12

  • The Courtyard Denver Downtown offers top-of-the-line services, allowing guests to make the most out of their stay in the Mile High City. 17
  • In general, Central Park is not my first recommendation if it is your first time in Denver. It's generally more residential and, though there are some commuter rail connections, overall it's an area where you really should only stay if you plan to have a car. It is most definitely not walkable to the main attractions of Denver (unlike CBD or the LoDo / Union Station area). 11
  • But if you're coming to the Park Meadows Mall, the location is great. Or if you have a doctor appointment nearby, it's good for that. On camera81:22
  • It's also conveniently situated within walking distance from Coors Field, Ball Arena, Larimer Square, and only four blocks away from the Colorado Convention Center. 17
  • Located on 16th Street Mall, this hotel features the Rialto Cafe and fitness equipment. Rooms include glass showers and high ceilings. Best for downtown explorers, less so for anyone requiring daily housekeeping. 1

  • There was shampoo, conditioner and shaving cream by Sheraton's signature Le Grand Bain, another bottle of shampoo from BeeKind, Pure by Gloss body lotion and a Gilchrist & Soames-branded bar of soap. Although Nichols believed it was a fluke, there was also no safe in my room. 15
  • The room was pretty standard and didn't have a dresser? The elevators took forever as well. 12
  • The Le Meridian was pretty cool, great lobby and rooftop bar was fantastic. Room was small but well appointed. 12

  • Room was small but well appointed. 12
  • My only complaint was that the living room lamp wasn't bright enough to light up the entire room at night. Sheraton did promise "well-lit" rooms with the refresh so hopefully this was an isolated issue with this suite type. 15
  • Brown Palace needs a room overhaul. 12

  • Starting your morning with a delicious breakfast here is the best way to fuel up before you head out to see the mountains or tackle your work day. 13
  • For lunch one day, I ordered the Power Hour bowl ($18), which was fresh and light, consisting of spinach, kale, quinoa, blueberries, pistachios, tomatoes and avocado (fresh this time!). 15
  • And, of course, we have to talk about the food. You can kickstart your morning with a delicious breakfast right on site, giving you all the energy you need to explore the vibrant Tech Center area or head out into the beautiful Colorado mountains. On camera101:51
