  • The rooms appeared to be a little outdated and could use an update. We had a balcony overlooking the ocean and the view was stunning - I really enjoyed looking at the view each morning! 22
  • We had a balcony overlooking the ocean and the view was stunning - I really enjoyed looking at the view each morning! We didn't love the food on the resort and opted to leave the resort for food for the most part. 22
  • Update: received upgrade from Garden view Garden Wing room to Wave Wing Ocean view. It was an outstanding upgrade with Diamond status that really made our stay. 13
  • They just keep saying it'll be be fixed soon but nope. We have an ocean view but with a giant electric tower smack in the middle. 13
Room32 mentions · 3 filmed
  • I stayed in November on an award stay; 4 nights of points and the 5th night free. We did receive an upgrade, the room was fine for the little time we spent in it. 13
  • When we got to our garden room on the ground floor (which we also complained about before we saw it) - it was beautiful - semi-private patio with the nice gardens all around - we felt bad that we had given the hotel guy such a hard time. 1
  • We stayed at the Caribe Hilton this past June. We made our reservation directly with Hilton and just got a regular room. It was very nice. 5
  • so this was the first issue with this hotel I had a room with a balcony and as you're gonna see this ain't no damn balcony and it's a view of absolutely nothing so that was the first thing that I had to complain about On camera180:58
  • The room is fairly decent sized, however the bed was on the comfortable side, if a bit too soft for my liking if I may add. 17
  • Beds were very comfortable, room was very nice (none of the holes in the wall/old crappy furniture etc) 5
  • The room (also on the Executive Floor which we were upgraded to when checking in using our Hilton Honor points) was modern with a balcony overlooking the tropical gardens and the ocean. 5
  • The room we got had a beautiful view. 21
  • Beyond that, the rooms are pretty standard for a Hilton or Hampton Inn. You can choose from a king or two double beds, and the room has a desk, a chair or two to relax in, a TV, and a decent sized bathroom. 15
  • Every room includes a balcony, providing guests with picturesque views of either the ocean or the lush tropical gardens on the property. Luckily, though, I snagged an ocean-front room, and the balcony vibes did not disappoint. 20
  • Room was clean, bed very comfortable , small balcony and huge bathroom. We had bid on priceline. Very satisfied. 5
  • okay so what's the suite we got here junior suite junior suite okay so it's pretty spacious got a couch and shirt pulls out and then our king bed and a nice closet refrigerator On camera60:38
  • My ocean-view king room felt huge and the balcony stretched the full width of the room, with two chairs and a small table. 8
  • Room was comfortable and bathroom provided enough space. 5
  • Hopped in a cab and it was about a 10 minute ride (watch out the cabbies are CRAZY! ) to the Caribe. We were put in the tower rooms also which must be standard for Hotwire bookings. Nice view of the grounds and ocean and we had a balcony. 1
  • The views of the ocean, fort, and Condado Lagoon were gorgeous and the property was beautiful from the lobby to the room balconies. 15
  • :) Right there in the lobby. Our room was what I would call worn. In my book, it wasn't Hilton level, I expect more from a Hilton. 5
  • My room was a king suite with an ocean view balcony-and the latter really was the cherry on top of my stay. There are few things that make me happier on vacation than a hotel room with a view! 4
  • The upscale, 910-room Caribe Hilton is a lively mega-resort with stunning views of Puerto Rico's Atlantic Coast between Old San Juan and Condado. 2
  • The room itself was spacious as well as the bathroom. 22
  • 1. They will not check you in early if you arrive before 4:00 p.m. We arrived at the hotel around noon and had to wait until 4:00 to get into our room. 5
  • The room would have been a huge disappointment if we had paid 300.oo a night. HOWEVER! We didn't..and we didn't spend enough time in our room to worry about it! 1
  • The room (also on the Executive Floor which we were upgraded to when checking in using our Hilton Honor points) was modern with a balcony overlooking the tropical gardens and the ocean. The beds were sooo comfy! 5
  • We stayed in the Wave Wing on our visit, and honestly I think we ended up with the best view in the hotel! Our room faced Northwest, and we had incredible views of both the ocean and beach area of the hotel as well as Old San Juan in the distance. 19
  • All the rooms have a water view to some degree, we had a nice balcony and a little living room in our suite. 13
  • All rooms are decorated in soothing blue and green tones. They also all have either a private balcony or terrace. 19
  • No AC now for 4 days, 80 degrees in our room. Most of the rooms have no AC so there's no option to switch rooms. They just keep saying it'll be be fixed soon but nope. 13
  • The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. 21
  • No AC now for 4 days, 80 degrees in our room. Most of the rooms have no AC so there's no option to switch rooms. 13
  • the size of the room the room was just huge and it was just a much better room for a family-friendly trip so I appreciated that this was the living room area see how big it is huge so much space On camera180:43
  • Tour our Caribe Hilton family suite (video below) We booked a 1 bedroom family suite at the Caribe Hilton. We booked a 1 bedroom family suite at the Caribe Hilton. It was nice and spacious, with two balconies and a pull out couch in the living room... 16
  • Premium toiletries are included with all rooms. It's worth checking ahead regarding views from certain rooms. While the Double Room we visited had an unobstructed ocean view, the Junior Suite's view was cluttered with rooftops in the foreground. 2

  • I didn't think the food was anything spectacular, especially for how expensive it was. Because of my husband's Hilton status, we had a free buffet, but had to pay to upgrade it to include warm items. And even then, I'm not sure it was worth it. 19
  • Food and drink is a bit on the expensive side, however. Two hamburgers and two beers was $50.00. 5
  • Good value for Hilton HHonors points. 17
  • The rooms are nice, but I would probably be disappointed if I paid over $150. Great deal through Priceline. 21
  • There's also spa services but we didn't use these either. We ate at the outdoor grill (twice). The burgers and fresh crab dishes and drinks were all great, but a bit pricey (we just split the food and it was more than enough). 5
  • I think I would characterize the food in the restaurants as  in price, and although good I wouldn't say it was anything super special! 5
  • lol. We were absolutely starving after our 5 hour flight from ORD and were thrilled to find they have room service until 3am! It was fabulous but very pricey. 1
  • Food is expensive -- averaged $40 per meal. The hotel is isolated from Old San Juan, so nothing close to eat other than the hotel offerings. 5
  • The daily resort charge on top of nightly rates can catch travelers offguard, and the sheer size of the property with 652 rooms across three wings can occasionally lead to a less personal feel. On camera1111:48
  • The Caribe Hilton hotel offers luxury resort amenities at pretty reasonable room prices, including beach access, fitness centers, multiple restaurants, and lounge areas. 16
  • The drinks were pricey but wow, did they make them correctly!:D 1
  • We did it on priceline and we stayed 3 nights precruise. We got it for 75.00 a night and the best deal ever!! 5
  • Still, some guests warn that the hotel often charges a premium for many of its offerings (on top of a $42 nightly resort charge). 9
  • I did get an omelet made fresh - that was an up-charge - one day, and it was fine, but for the price, I'd probably eat something local and offsite for my next stay. 16
  • VERY disappointed in the Marriott, especially for the price, and we said over and over that if we go back to PR again, we'll stay at the Caribe. 5
Location14 mentions · 2 filmed
  • While it is outside of the main historic part of San Juan, the Caribe Hilton's location puts it within easy distance of everything you might want to see in this part of the island, including El Yunque National Forest, multiple boat and kayaking tours, and the Bacardi Factory tours. 15
  • The hotel sits smack between the fashionable Condado neighborhood and historic Old San Juan, offering easy access between the city's old and new. 7
  • I found that the Caribe Hilton was located smack in the middle of everything I wanted to see: It's based on a peninsula across from Condado, San Juan's popular beach resort neighborhood, and a 10-minute car ride from historic Old San Juan. 4
  • Yet it's also the perfect jumping off point for seeing what's below the surface, too. Its location makes it easy to explore the abundant nature on Puerto Rico, from the secluded beach to the waterfalls of El Yunque. 24
  • Plus my Caribe Hilton review points out how great it is to have close access to downtown Old San Juan because I'm a foodie and love art and history, too. 16
  • The location of this Puerto Rico resort is incredible. 16
  • Not within walking distance of anything you may want to do in San Juan. 19
  • I am gonna go walk downstairs with y'all and show you guys the resort because the location is good but I'm gonna get into that too On camera62:47
  • Once we arrived at the Caribe Hotel, I liked that it was located smack in the middle of everything we wanted to see and do. 22
  • Location is one of the Caribbe Hilton's strongest cards because the resort sits within easy reach of some of San Juan's most iconic attractions. On camera119:35
  • Otherwise, there isn't much within walking distance, and guests without cars should be prepared for hefty cab fares. 2
  • Lola's Puerto Rican Cuisine. Also located off the lobby, Lola's is a cozy eatery that serves tasty, traditional Puerto Rican dishes like mofongo, fried pork and arroz mamposteao (rice and beans). 8
  • While you will have to take a car to get to most of the places you will want to go while you're in San Juan, it's still a beautiful and convenient location! 19
  • DW and I stayed at the Caribe Hilton in April 2004. It is a nice hotel in a nice location. 1
Service21 mentions · 5 filmed
  • The service was fast and the staff was so nice - even in the wee hours! 1
  • the service took a long time maybe we were just starving On camera65:01
  • The staff was stupendous;friendly, full of suggestions for dining, and very accommodating with special requests. 5
  • The Caribbe Hilton also leans on Hilton's modern tech, including contactless digital check-in and digital key access through the Hilton app, which lets guests skip the front desk entirely if they prefer. That is a real convenience after a long flight when the last thing anyone wants is to stand in a line dragging suitcases. On camera111:52
  • Debbie I've stayed there once, and my parents have stayed there at least 5 times. It was a wonderful hotel, rooms are great, nice beach, pool, etc. Seemed very clean to me. 5
  • Thanks for the help Debbie We spent 3 nights at the Caribe Hilton in late September. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - check in was a breeze, the pool was lovely and our rooms were great. 5
  • The friendly front desk staff will give you a copy of the activities planned during your stay. 8
  • In fact, the concierge at the Caribe Hilton is really helpful in recommending and setting up tours, so if you're interested in seeing a part of the island that needs more than just a simple taxi/Uber ride, just ask at the desk. 15
  • Debuting after an extensive renovation, the Caribe Hilton reopened in 2019 and impressed recent guests with its stellar service. 9
  • Front desk staff was great..very informative and extremely pleasant! 1
  • Contactless check-in cuts wait times, and the consistency of Hilton service standards adds a safety net that independent resorts cannot always guarantee. On camera1113:12
  • Check in was pretty seamless and luckily our room was ready early. 22
  • The Caribe is nice....great pools and beach area, swim-up bar, clean rooms, a little dated, but comfortable. 12
  • The swim up bars weren't open yet for full service, but they did have service attendants at poolside for beverage and food orders. They were swamped during that week, but really did an amazing job! We were so grateful for their level of service. 13
  • Multiple reviewers have called out amazing staff and beautiful beach in the same breath, which suggests the human side of the operation is doing something right. On camera1114:20
  • and again the front desk was nice but they just didn't really help with my issues On camera184:37
  • There's a Starbucks in the lobby (try their freshly made local pastries, especially the Quesitos), big glass containers of fresh water laced with with fruits such as melon, lemon, and oranges in the lobby, big exotic plants, huge talking birds in rattan cages, upscale shops, a terrific concierge service, several restaurants, taxis onsite, and much more. 5
  • Karen has Hilton HHonors Gold status and since the booking was under her name, we were entitled for free breakfast for 2 guests. However, the front desk lady was kind enough to give us 4 vouchers for the complimentary breakfast. Awesome !! 17
  • Return guests will be relieved that the property welcomed back several loyal staff members upon reopening, including many who have worked here for decades. 7
  • On this trip, I was traveling solo and I never felt unsafe. The staff was warm and welcoming and the beach feels private. 8
  • Yeah I think the staff is very nice and the pools and beach are great. But roasting every night after a long day in the sun, not great 13
Food24 mentions · 3 filmed
  • Very pretty, nice upkeep, clean rooms, nice views, great activities, Starbucks onsite, shopping (very pricey) and lots of restaurant options. 21
  • An expansive breakfast buffet is served every morning, with a live cooking egg station and plenty of hot and cold options, but it's only included with certain bookings. 2
  • My only other complaint would be the lunch there - buffet, good food, but about $20 per person. 1
  • Morton's Steakhouse (which was great for evenings when we were tired and hungry - we just ordered food online and picked it up). 16
  • Had breakfast in the resort at the restaurant by the pools. Again, pricey but very good. 1
  • Here, you'll find cocktails and drinks, as well as sandwiches, wraps, and burgers. There's nothing particular special about the food. But it was a fine option for lunch, especially if you're out by the pool anyway. 19
  • There are 9 different food options on-site, making it so that you don't really need to leave the hotel unless you want to. 15
  • lol. We were absolutely starving after our 5 hour flight from ORD and were thrilled to find they have room service until 3am! It was fabulous but very pricey. 1
  • in the lobby there is a starbucks and several restaurants. palmeras has an awesome dinner buffet. 1
  • we did eat at Lola's which was right on the resort and it wasn't anything to really brag about I had a shrimp penne a la vodka and there was it was like an American bar type of restaurant really wasn't too much to choose from On camera182:00
  • Some great on-property restaurants (though some are better than others). 19
  • There's also spa services but we didn't use these either. We ate at the outdoor grill (twice). The burgers and fresh crab dishes and drinks were all great, but a bit pricey (we just split the food and it was more than enough). 5
  • The food options at Caribe Hilton are as impressive as the size of the resort itself. Several full-service restaurants are available just steps from the common area, which was great for the nights I returned to the hotel after a long day in the sun. 20
  • I think I would characterize the food in the restaurants as  in price, and although good I wouldn't say it was anything super special! 5
  • I found the on-site dining OK, pool bar was nice and the bar in the lobby seemed to keep odd hours, but was good when open. 13
  • breakfast was delicious it's probably one of my best meals here On camera69:43
  • This included the breakfast buffet with the standard breakfast pastry, cereal, and some other foods available at most hotel concierge restaurants. Quite honestly, I wasn't that interested in the food as it was pretty standard, but we did find an interesting fact about it... 16
  • Caribar is open for dinner and I've also seen it open for lunch. This is the on-property breakfast restaurant on Caribe Hilton. They have a buffet and an omelet station, although I'll be honest...I wasn't particularly impressed. 19
  • The restaurants are pricey around here however there is a Quiznos on this property which makes for a very affordable dining option. 17
  • We went back to the room and ordered room service. I ordered the fettucinni alfredo and my husband (DH) ordered chicken fingers and fries. The total was around $40. We bought 2 sodas from the vending machines for $2 each. The food was good, but I think anything would have tasted good at that point! 12
  • oh.....they have several restaurants there and we ate in palmeras for dinner and for sunday brunch. everynight they have a buffet (themed) and their usual menu. food is great. you're gonna love it. 1
  • And listen. Even though it's in Puerto Rico, I thought this Italian restaurant was delicious. I had the carbonara. Was it authentic? Not really. But was it maybe one of my favorite things I ate on our entire trip? YES. 19
  • Morton's The Steakhouse. I had one of the best meals of my life here. Morton's specializes in prime-aged beef and seafood entrees, paired with an extensive wine collection. 8
  • Between the swim up and poolside bars mentioned by other listings and the sit-down restaurants inside the main buildings, the food and beverage program is one of the property's stronger points, especially for guests who prefer not to venture out every night. On camera114:16

  • Room was comfortable and bathroom provided enough space. 5
  • The room itself was spacious and clean, with a big bathroom and an excellent shower. 4
  • I do stress that it is an older hotel, so some of the fixtures (shower for instance) were showing some age (like waterspots etc), but nothing that caused me any issues. 5
  • this is the bathroom in 901. this shower only spits out boiling hot water and if you want hot it dribbles so all week long we've tried to get somebody in here to fix it they never fixed it okay they had somebody come in here played around with some things still never fixed it 6
  • everything's been wonderful except the shower experience you know unless you like a boiling hot shower and everything else was pretty good On camera610:40
  • The large bathroom had a huge walk-in shower and double vanity sinks. 8
  • Bathrooms are a mixed bag, and some don't feel quite as modern as the rooms themselves. Some bathrooms are fresh, with bright mosaic tiling, shower/tub combos, spacious vanities, and granite countertops, while others have slightly dated marble tiling. 2
  • We got it for 75.00 a night and the best deal ever!! They put us in a brand new villa!! Granite in the kitchen, absolutely beautiful bathroom and we had a patio out to the ocean!! 5

  • it's just that the hotel was isolated being in a resort in Puerto Rico was very different for me you did have to take an Uber no matter where you went there were a couple of stores right across the street I think maybe one place to eat but in general you had to Uber everywhere that you went so that was something that I really didn't like On camera182:44
  • It is sort of off by itself, so it's a cab ride or bus ride to OSJ, or cab to Condado. But we liked the quietness of the area, and really enjoyed the private beach. 5
  • One thing I would like to mention is that the rooms had very thin walls. Guests in our neighboring room decided to have some loud "fun" around 2 am and it kept us up the whole time it was going on. 🙂 17
  • We have an ocean view but with a giant electric tower smack in the middle. It is so loud, it sounds like jet planes idling outside our window 24/7. 13
  • as soon as you got off the elevator on the 9th floor... it overpowered you. imagine the worst house smell you've ever smelled and multiply it by 10. our rooms smelled so bad that we bought some lysol and were constantly spraying it. 1
