  • Inside, I signed my name on the guest clipboard and was welcomed by a very friendly associate. Before he found out that I lived locally, I was given a number of recommendations for local sites and restaurants (BBQ-need I say more?!) to visit and even got an offer to help with making reservations. 8
  • The hotel has 724 rooms!, but with a concert scheduled for the following evening, I figured my chances of a better room seemed pretty slim. There was no wait to check-in, which surprised me, considering how busy the hotel was. 8
  • I had excellent interactions with all staff at this hotel! From check-in to the gift shop, everyone was so friendly and kind at the Westin. 19
  • Guests rave about the kind and helpful staff members and the hotel's proximity to Union Station, but recent visitors think the accommodations are a bit outdated. 12
  • Rooms are spacious; some offer nice city views. 6
  • Check-in was quick and easy, and the hotel had upgraded me to an Executive Suite. 9
  • The inhouse reservations staff already blocked my favorite room for me. Virtually a nonstop checkin to my room! Service does not get much better than that! 18
  • Lowes hotel is a better option if they are available. Cascade (Marriott hotel) on the plaza is also nice and clean. 2

  • Large convention hotel with beautiful rooms and a nice pool. 15
  • The breakfast is terrible, in the lounge. But the rooms are nice, check out the train station and The Wise Guy! 17
  • But the rooms are nice, check out the train station and The Wise Guy! Those "whirlpool" tubs are dirty and gross. 17
  • My favorite amenity offered at this hotel was the very kind concierge and shuttle around downtown. 19
  • It was a bit of a welcome surprise and aptly sums up the polite and helpful service I received during my stay. This hotel is an old physical plant but the management has done a solid job keeping it modern and comfortable. 7
  • Sheraton Suites-- Very friendly staff, and when I was staying there monthly a couple of years ago, the front desk clerk would greet me and simply hand me my keys as he saw me alight from my car. 18
  • Since you're considering a Marriott in Crown Center...check out the Westin instead. It's been maintained much better than the Sheraton. Now it's got a more retro-cool vibe as opposed to a retro-they-stopped-cleaning-this-place vibe. And it's easy to get to the transit stop right by Union Station. 2
  • check out the Westin instead. It's been maintained much better than the Sheraton. Now it's got a more retro-cool vibe as opposed to a retro-they-stopped-cleaning-this-place vibe. 2
  • The staff was also really helpful, telling me about the shuttle and making sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. 19

  • The hotel even has a free shuttle service that will take you there and back, as well as to the Power and Light District. 8
  • The agent I spoke with asked me to hold on for just a second, then came back and recognized my Platinum status and asked if I needed a 4pm check-out (the time guaranteed by Platinum status). It was a bit of a welcome surprise and aptly sums up the polite and helpful service I received during my stay. 7
  • Hotel Kansas City is nice. But it isn't child friendly. And breakfast options are limited. 2

  • The room was typical of a Westin and I found it to be pretty comfortable. Most of my stay was spent preparing for the following day, though the room was comfortable and offered plenty of space to relax. 8
  • The bedroom area was compact but had all the essentials including a refrigerator. 9
  • so here's another overall view of the room it's very spacious I'm surprised they call it a junior suite probably because there's not actually a wall separating the bedroom where it's a true one-bedroom suite On camera162:08
  • The desk area has the standard chair and plenty of work space. The hotel has done a good job of dealing with an older building and a lack of plugs with a well-placed power strip. 7
  • I stayed here back in May and even without SPG status I got a nice room on a high floor facing the city. 7

  • Westin Crown Plaza-- Suites. Lots of good upgrade potential as there are multiple types of rooms and suites, including at least one with a piano. Better views-- rooms facing Downtown have a nice view of the skyline and Union Station. 18
  • Due to the height and the building and the wall of windows, it definitely had a great view 0f the city. 9
  • I had a great view of the train station and city skyline, which was particularly awesome during a sunset in a thunderstorm. 9

  • Westin all day - The Fairfield isnt bad by any means and decent free breakfast 10
  • The breakfast was really great as well. I enjoyed a large omelette and fresh-squeezed juice. I love how refreshed and energized I felt for the day after breakfast. 19
  • Dinner service was just about to end, though I managed to make one pass for a few snacks. The buffet was fairly limited, though they did offer one hot dish (wontons), in addition to veggies, cookies, and some other snack foods. 8
  • I enjoyed a breakfast and appetizers at the hotel while there. There is one restaurant in the hotel, The Brasserie, and it had delicious food. The appetizers we received were excellent, and we enjoyed them a bunch. 19
  • If you stay at the Westin, you have to eat at Benton's. I never recommend eatting at the hotel restaurant, but this is the one exception. You will love it!! 18
  • The breakfast is terrible, in the lounge. 17
  • Sheraton is nothing like the Hyatt it used to be. Even the on site restaurant/bar sucks. Hotel KC is a much better option 2
  • Westin all day - The Fairfield isnt bad by any means and decent free breakfast - but with that said I lived in the Union Hill neighborhood and I had really bad heating issues during one of those super cold winters a few years back and HVAC guy couldnt get out right away. 10
  • My only complaint was the coffee! They had a full-service coffee bar with espresso, but I opted for a regular coffee. Maybe I should have gone for the latte, but the drip coffee was not so great that day. 19

  • If you are coming from the airport, definitely check with your hotel before you decide how to get there! This hotel has some excellent amenities, a gorgeous lobby, and great views. 19
  • The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center is one of the best located hotels in Kansas City. Steps from the Liberty Memorial, home to the National World War I Museum, Union Station, and a short walk or drive from the well known Power and Light District. 8
  • The connected Crown Center shopping area has excellent choices for drinks and nibbles, and it's close to the Crossroads area. 15
  • Stay at the new Sheraton in Overland Park. It's a very short drive to downtown and worth it. 18
  • Westin. Better location and easy walk to the big KC attractions 10
  • The streetcar stop is essentially in the middle of the route, so you can quickly get to both the Plaza on the South end and River Market on the North end, plus the Union Station/Liberty Memorial area is a little more picturesque without the noise of the middle of downtown. 2
  • The Sheraton has a Club Lounge which had the typical cheese/vegi/fruit/something heated stuff but the location is great. 18
  • The location of this hotel could not be better! The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center is located right in the middle of downtown, across the street from Union Station. 19
  • Westin 1000 percent. Better area. Will be easier to get in and out of for ride share to the stadium or the tourist spots not on the streetcar line. 10
  • If you are headed to Kansas City, the Westin Crown Center is definitely an affordable, friendly hotel in the perfect location! 19
  • Crown center for sure. Love that hotel and the location. 10
  • The location certainly can't be beat, and the opening of the Streetcar in the spring will make it even better for those wishing to visit other parts of Kansas City and save the cost of an Uber or a taxi. 8

  • The bathroom is a decent size, marble finishes and a rain shower head. I actually prefer the rain shower heads to the dual shower head "Heavenly Shower" Westin used to promote. 7
  • The bathtub was huge, which made for luxurious showers and baths. I love being able to relax while traveling! 19

  • Overall, this is a decent Westin offering and prices are usually quite reasonable on the weekends. 8
  • If price isn't a factor, Westin is in the middle of everything. Stick with that one for sure. 10
  • There is a fee to use the fitness center ($5 or $10, I don't recall), which struck me as odd for this type of property. That's something I see at Vegas casinos and some large hotels in metropolitan properties, but it strikes me as a bit of a nitty way to generate revenue for this property. 7
  • When I found out the Westin was right in the center of downtown and had tons of awesome added amenities for a great price, you get all the amazing amenities of a Westin hotel without having to splurge. 19
