The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong is an energetic Marriott property placed directly in the shopping and dining district. Guests enjoy high-floor city vistas, comfortable Simmons mattresses, and a lively bar that doubles as check-in. However, room floor space is tight with no room for extra beds, and reaching guest rooms requires transferring elevators. Breakfast service also draws complaints for slow egg orders and distracted staff. 221

Score breakdown

How the 98/100 is built, category by category — each one with the strongest thing travelers actually said, and the source it came from.

Bathroom

98
read from 1 source · Deep coverage
  • The shower space is spacious and comes with a glass screen that prevents most of the water from getting all over the place. 20
  • As for the bathroom, the shower had good pressure, and had a little cubby to place my towel and music player. 2

Food

92
read from 2 sources · Light coverage
  • For example, the 'STAY FOR BREAKFAST' promotion runs all year and entitles guests to a complimentary breakfast with their stay. I can personally attest to this feast, which will easily sustain you through your busy Bangkok day. 21
  • Chef P and his deputy Chef Mind, proudly recommend some of the tasty creations offered in the Moxy Bar & Restaurant while I ponder the many choices. It seems the Massaman beef curry is their dinner favourite, while pork (or chicken) in black sauce soup is suggested as a bold breakfast boost - and I find both hard to dispute. 21

Location

99
read from 1 source · Deep coverage
  • The location is this property's strongest point! In my opinion, it is the best. This is especially true for Singaporeans. You are in the core Sukhumvit area with easy access to well-built walkways that can take you to MBK, Siam, Erawan, Central and Platinum. 20
  • The hotel is centrally located. This is one of the best spots for leisure tourists. The location is their strongest aspect. 20

Room

95
read from 1 source · Deep coverage
  • Mounted on the wall is a large high-quality smart-screen television. The Smart TV comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. It's a good size for this room and great for movie nights. 20
  • The room comes with a rather spectacular unblocked view of the surrounding area and the platinum area. It is nice with how high up we are. 20

Service

99
read from 1 source · Deep coverage
  • The pancakes and waffles were lovely. Check out how cute they are! I am sure the kids and little ones will love this. 20
  • The staff are polished and readily go around to clear dishes. They also come around to offer the local speciality of the day to guests. 20

Nothing quotable yet on this one — the score leans on the rest of the coverage.

Value

  • As a finicky sleeper whose aging bones are easily upset with many mattress types, even the expensive ones, I can soundly (pun intended) say the Simmons brand mattresses preferred by many top hotel chains, including Marriott, mean I don't have to crane myself out of bed in the morning. 21

  • Towels were in good supply, and the refillable soap/shampoo containers were sufficient. 2

  • My check-in representative was friendly, and offered me a choice of welcome drinks. 2
  • Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong has quite a good location if you're looking to be in the thick of food, shopping, and public transportation, not to mention check-in/cleaning staff are nice. 2
  • At Moxy, the bar is also where you check-in. How fun! I was immediately helped by the bartender and provided with all the information. 20
  • The first (of two) days I had breakfast, Seegem (not sure of spelling), the supervisor, was really the only helpful chap. On the second day, staff was more interested in looking at their phones. 2
  • Albeit not a very busy time to eat, service was nevertheless friendly, if neglectful when glasses of water were almost done. 2

  • Features like the "walldrobe" and folding furniture maximise the scant floor space, and the massive floor-to-ceiling windows offer a dizzying cityscape panorama. 21
  • Mounted on the wall is a large high-quality smart-screen television. The Smart TV comes with a good number of both local and international cable TV channels. It's a good size for this room and great for movie nights. 20

  • The room was clean and polished looking, had neat views of Pratunam and Baiyoke Sky, and ample places to charge devices. However, where's a practical desk? So much for being productive, right? 2
  • The hotel also has a very cosy outdoor terrace area. This is a good spot to chill and even work on your laptop. 20
  • An expansive, themed outdoor terrace area is ideal for large or small events, and guests can choose to dine there while overlooking Bangkok's glitzy 'Blade Runner' cityscape. 21
  • The desk offers a good spot for some items. I love that it comes with compartments for additional storage. 20
  • The room comes with a rather spectacular unblocked view of the surrounding area and the platinum area. It is nice with how high up we are. 20
  • The queen-sized bed is perfect for two. There is no space in the room for an extra bed. 20
  • The Wi-Fi connection in the room is very strong and makes the room a decent set-up to get some work done. 20
  • I love the theatre-inspired look and design around the hotel. This includes the room numbers which it is made to look like a theatre box display. This is classy. 20
  • I love the look of the place. It is so vibrant and energetic. The room is cosy and comfortable for couples. 20
