The verdict

Read it your way

Hyatt Regency Columbus is a major downtown convention hotel connected by indoor walkways to the Greater Columbus Convention Center and Nationwide Arena. Guests praise the dedicated staff, spacious room layouts, and skyline views from higher floors. However, reviewers consistently note dated elements such as scuffs on the walls and furniture, along with steep $40 valet parking rates. 153

  • Spent eclipse weekend in a Junior suite in this property which was pretty nice as well! So if you book this property and don't get the presidential, you shouldn't be too bummed. 2
  • I liked having a table and chairs to work and dine from in the suite. 18
  • Got a long desk. That's A lot of times in hotels desks are under the TV. I like that. It's away from the TV. 1
  • The room was clean, although a bit on the small side. 15
  • If u stay at Regency and are in a king bed, ask for the corner rooms (ending in 33) they are great rooms with great views 15
  • I did get an upgrade eventually. A 2-bedroom suite for myself! Even though it was on the smoking floor, Hyatt did a great job making sure the room didn't smell like cigarettes. 3
  • The room was nice enough, and clean. 15
  • got a big mirror right there and it's curved got a nice window you got the bed high up bed really big in here actually 4
  • My room was dated, but everything was clean and comfortable. 15
  • I'm at the Columbus Regency now and got upgraded to a junior suite despite only being an Explorist. It's not presidential suite level rad, but it's pretty great! 2
  • I would look elsewhere. It's pretty worn down, with scuffs and marks on all the furniture as well as the walls. 15
  • But even the deluxe king is a spacious room with a dedicated sitting area. 2
  • Hyatt House Washington DC/The Wharf (cat 5, two nights)... The views from my room were grand. 15
  • The lighting in the halls and room was very dim. 15
  • I was very impressed with the suite, it's easily the best "room" I've had while traveling for work. 2
  • The suite was nice enough, and it was a lot better than the standard HP room. Bed was extremely stiff, though. 15
  • The suite was nice enough, and it was a lot better than the standard HP room. 15
  • Any suite upgrade is worthwhile at Columbus. I quite enjoy the studio and junior suites that I typically am upgraded to there; the only thing I wish they had is the Eames lounge chair. 2
  • Closer than the Hyatt House Richmond in Short Pump which has an incredible suite with a freestanding tub in the living room. 15
  • I stayed in a suite which was nice enough, with a full kitchen and the accompanying amenities. 15
  • The views from my room were grand. 15
  • I was upgraded to a higher floor and given a drink/app voucher based on Discoverist status, which was thoughtful of them. The room was nice enough, and clean. 15
  • And you have your coffee machine. We go into the room. Very long to get from the door to the window. That's really nice. Lots of space in here. This corridor right here is very wide. On camera11:47
  • Last time I went they upgraded me to this as well! Beautiful suite. Enjoy the free beer lol. 2
  • As mentioned, I was upgraded to a lovely VIP Suite. 6
Food19 mentions
  • Service at the on-site restaurant was good, and the food was acceptable if unimpressive. 15
  • Hyatt Place breakfast certainly tastes better with the views provided here. 15
  • Not a big fan of the dinner/restaurant at regency. While the free app is cool and all. 15
  • Convention Center is better located for party people and dining options: lively short north and arena districts, near OSU, but no RC and merely passable buffet brkfst. 3
  • Breakfast on the weekends is buffet style. It was decent. 15
  • Do you order off the menu? Last time I went we did the buffet and I wasn't impressed. 2
  • VIP suites at Cleveland are in the tower and have a kitchenette and dining area along with wonderful bathrooms, but they are premium suites and upgrades to those are unlikely unless it is a slow week for them as there are only two of them to my knowledge. 2
  • yep, super dated, and I am not a big fan of the breakfast, but the apps are good, service is good, Its super conveniant 15
  • HR MKE is great value in the summer if you don't care too much about hard product. great location and good staff/breakfast. 15
  • Restaurant/bar is really good as well. 15
  • app is big enough for a light dinner. Its super conveniant (right by a ton of musuems and event venues, the globalist free parking on firserv event nights is super clutch) 15
  • I ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, which featured a cozy terrace overlooking the streets (and the celebrating fans.) 15
  • The hotel restaurant is actually not bad either, if you like eggs, the Eggs Benedict are my favourites in the morning... 3
  • Grand Hyatt in DC is my go-to if you want to be in the middle of everything. I take the train up from Norfolk and the hotel is 2 metro stops away from Union Station and has direct access to the metro station. Restaurant/bar is really good as well. 15
  • Not a big fan of the dinner/restaurant at regency. 15

  • great location and good staff/breakfast. 15

Location25 mentions
  • The location is good, and walkable to many things in Indy. 15
  • Property is located within a shopping district so if you need to kill some time, there are a decent amount of stores to explore, with am smattering of places to eat. 15
  • I had thought I could kill a day or at least an afternoon here but that was not the case. It was made worse by not being centrally located, so the usual DC sights were kind of out of the way. This is less a hotel complaint than it is about the surroundings, I suppose. 15
  • I stayed at the Adam's Mark a couple of years ago. It was a pretty good place, nothing special but well located. 12
  • On the one hand, the location is cool! The Wharf district is right on the water and is very visually appealing. 15
  • HR MKE is great value in the summer if you don't care too much about hard product. great location and good staff/breakfast. 15
  • Hyatt Place Grand Rapids Downtown (cat 3, one night) Good location in GR. I was able to walk to everything I wanted. 15
  • Southwind Motel is super nice and reasonably priced. You'll be near some bars/restaurants, close to German village, and a short uber to kemba live. 8
  • The HC is located near, well, nothing, unless you are going to court or in the state governement. Columbus isn't big by any means, but the HC puts you a cab ride away from everything. 3
  • Grand Hyatt in DC is my go-to if you want to be in the middle of everything. I take the train up from Norfolk and the hotel is 2 metro stops away from Union Station and has direct access to the metro station. 15
  • Hyatt House Washington DC/The Wharf (cat 5, two nights) I have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, the location is cool! The Wharf district is right on the water and is very visually appealing. 15
  • The HR is in a great location near the Nationwide Arena, Short North and the convention center. 3
  • When my mom moved to town last November she stayed at Hyatt House on 5th for a couple weeks. Technically walkable to Kemba (less than 2 miles), through Harrison West and Victorian Village neighborhoods, which are completely safe (I live there, I know). 8
  • The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Nationwide Arena and the Arena District. There are also lots of stores and restaurants nearby. 18

  • great location and good staff/breakfast. 15
  • Good location in GR. I was able to walk to everything I wanted. 15
  • Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade (cat 3, one night) Gorgeous, unique location. The space is a bit underutilized, as there are only a couple shops/restaurants inside the building. 15
  • Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade (cat 3, one night) Gorgeous, unique location. 15
  • The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Nationwide Arena and the Arena District. 6
  • HH Pittsburgh is another one of those with an incredible location but some major caveats otherwise, (mainly the fact that it's a popular wedding venue and you can almost guarantee there will be a wedding party there every weekend from May to October). 15
