The verdict

Who's travelling?

Pick a traveller type to re-weight the scores and re-rank the rooms around what you actually care about.

Read it your way

Akara Hotel is a boutique Bangkok property known for its rooftop infinity pool and marble-clad bathrooms with scenic soaking tubs. Reviewers appreciate the attentive service, comfortable beds, and convenient two-minute walk to the Airport Rail Link. However, guests note that rooms lack opening windows, can take an hour to cool down, and suffer from thin soundproofing along the hallways. 1734

Every line below traces back to something a traveler actually wrote — open a line to read the original sentence and follow it to the source.

What travelers noticed

  • The rooftop infinity pool is widely praised for its expansive views across the city skyline. 7413
  • Bathrooms earn high marks for their luxury marble decor and circular soaking tubs set against floor-to-ceiling windows. 4
  • Guests consistently highlight the comfortable beds and stylish wood and marble room aesthetics. 435
  • The location is appreciated for being just a two-minute walk from the Airport Rail Link to Suvarnabhumi Airport. 173

The catch

  • While guests in higher room categories and at the pool enjoy panoramic skyline vistas, those in standard rooms report having very limited views. 13
  • Some visitors appreciate quiet hallways given the low room count, whereas others note poor door soundproofing near the elevators and highway. 17

Who it's for

  • Travelers seeking quick Airport Rail Link access
  • Guests wanting marble soaking tubs with city views
  • Rooftop pool enthusiasts

Skip it if

  • Light sleepers sensitive to hallway and lift noise
  • Travelers who require opening windows for fresh air

  • For one of the best hotels in Bangkok, you're almost certainly going to pay well less than £100 a night for a room here. Using Booking.com, if you're a genius member (I'm level 1), you can expect to pay a price around £61 for a Superior King Room and £86 for a Deluxe King Room including breakfast (obviously dependent on availability, time of booking etc). Isn't that amazing? 4
  • For the money, nothing beats The Peninsula. You're on the "wrong" side of the river, but they have a regular boat shuttle at all hours. It's true 5* at upper 4* prices. 14

  • On top of the Sky Bar prices, you also have what are probably the two most expensive restaurants in the country, Mezzaluna and Chef's Table. 14
  • Edit/ if it's in your price range consider the Oriental. Perfect location, great bars and restaurants, and it's got an awesome history. 14

  • Don't know if it's in your price range but have you considered The Peninsula? Great river views, shuttle boats to the bts and river ferry (which is what you need to get to most places you'll want to see) 14
